About

PODs The Backpackers Home & Cafe provides affordable budget accommodation for backpackers and travelers. Our spacious common area offers a cozy and relaxing atmosphere with a cafe offering a range of beverages such as coffee, tea, milkshake, and more. We are an eco-friendly venture, we use metallic straws, paper bags, and we are doing our best to reduce the consumption of single-use plastic. We have our own rooftop where our guests can chill and hang out with each other!

Our location is in Kuala Lumpur, just a stone throw away from KL Sentral station, a hub where most of the trains and buses are in and out of the city giving easy access to many major attractions as well as to both airports, KLIA and KLIA2. Housed in a new building in Brickfields with abundant choices of local food around and the fusion of colorful cultures, trinkets, and merchandise traders. PODs is also situated in an area where lots of government and religious centers focus on the development of the less fortunate, such as the deaf and blind community and orphanages.

Our private PODs offer privacy away from the dormitories. The private PODs have mattresses on raised platforms to give a Zen like feel. Some come with tinted windows, all have a wardrobe/bedside table, an individual fan, and a light. Our dorms have double bunk beds, individual power sockets, individual lockers and decent personal space. Each floor has two or three sharing design hot water shower cabins. Central AC units are placed strategically with blowers to all PODs, and all designs and themes are chosen to complement and promote our eco-friendly theme, which is to be simple and always go green. And when traveling, respect the Earth!

PODs always value the important things travelers or backpackers need, hence we provide free WiFi, clean linen and towels, luggage storage, and most importantly, recommendations of activities to do in KL and Selangor! Do approach our receptionist for this! In several public holidays of Malaysia, we also host events related to the public holiday, celebrating it. Our prices range between affordable shared dormitories and reasonable private PODs, with a promise of clean, friendly, and hospitable services just like home! Drop in, stay with us, make your journey as pleasant, as comfortable and as memorable as possible.

Summary of traveller reviews

PODs The Backpackers Home & Cafe in Kuala Lumpur is praised for its excellent location, especially its proximity to KL Sentral, making it ideal for travellers needing easy access to transport. Staff are frequently mentioned as friendly and helpful. Some recent reviews note that the atmosphere can be quiet and that certain rooms might be too cold or lack privacy due to the absence of curtains. It suits travellers looking for a convenient base rather than a social hub.

It worked well as a stop for a few days before I flew out of KL. good location by sentral station which is ideal if arriving / departing from the airport. hostel was clean and there was no issues here. HOWEVER if I was not about to fly out of the airport, and I was beginning my trip here, I wouldn’t stay. It isn’t really a traveller vibe, as many have mentioned it is more full of locals living there. Not a problem but if you want to socialise here you have little chance.

Little space. Very cold ac in the dorm, not possible to adjust the temp, it was on the coldest. Most people were locals, long term workers, that does not respect others. I was in a female dorm, someone had their alarm on at 02 at night, they snoozed many times at nighttime. Made a lot of noise. Didnt sleep at all. Uncomfortable bed, next to two big windows, so mmit got even colder. I had to wear a jacket at night. Only 2 showers and toilets on the whole floor. Would not recommend for backoackers
