Group Booking Terms and Conditions

Because you are making a Group Booking, there are additional Terms and Conditions that apply. Please read them and click 'I Accept' below to continue with your booking

General Group Booking Terms

By making a group reservation through you agree to the following terms and conditions as set by and as set by the hostel in question.

  • In order to make a group reservation on it is necessary to pay a deposit. The balance is due directly to the hostel according to their payment conditions.
  • The booking deposit is non-refundable.
  • Please note that any cancellations must be notified directly to the hostel at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled arrival date, unless otherwise stated in the hostel's conditions.
  • are not responsible for changes or amendments to your reservation once it has been processed. All correspondence with regard to changes to your booking need to be dealt with directly with the hostel.
  • Cancellations for reservations must be made directly with the hostel and must conform with the individual hostels cancellation policy (see below)
  • It is your responsibility to pay the balance of your accommodation cost to the hostel in accordance with their payment conditions (see below). Failure to do so may result in your reservation being cancelled by the hostel.
  • Individual hostels may have special booking conditions relating to group stays, please read the hostel booking conditions carefully before making your reservation.

Hostel Specific Terms & Conditions

The remainder of the amount due will be charged to your credit card 4 weeks prior to arrival. Should numbers or room selection change, the per person deposit times the number of people who actually travelled will be deducted from the total accommodation charge levvied by the hostel.

Cancellation / No Show & Reduction in Numbers Policy

A 20% non refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking and for any group space to be held.
Final payment is due (8 weeks) - 56 days before arrival

Additional Terms and Conditions

a. When you have made a reservation you will be requested to confirm your booking by means of a 20% non-refundable deposit of the total cost. If the deposit is not received by the agreed date (usually 7 days) the beds or rooms will be automatically released from the system.
b. Payments can be made either by Visa, MasterCard, Switch, and Debit Card or in some cases cheque, Bank Transfer or cash. If your booking is being paid for with a third party credit card we will require written authorisation to be provided by the card-holder.
c. Bank transfers must be accompanied by the bank’s proof of payment.
d. The remaining balance must be paid at least 56 days (8 weeks) before your arrival date (12 weeks prior for Christmas and New Year Bookings and during Special Events). This is to include all extras and fees. Failure to do so may result in your booking being automatically cancelled.

f. All payments must be made in Pound Sterling.
g. Payments shall be made in such format as agreed with you when we confirm the booking.
h. All fees incurred by the payee due to the method of payment, (i.e. bank transfer fees issued by the sending or receiving bank), are to be paid by the group. SYHA Ltd is not responsible for these fees.
i. If any payment under these terms and conditions is overdue, then without prejudice to our other rights and remedies we may cancel your booking(s) and/or we may suspend the supply and/or deliveries of any other services being provided to you by SYHA. We will however inform you in writing prior to any such action.
j. When a group’s package has been agreed with the guest, Sales & Reservations will prepare a priced itinerary for the group.
k. For group packages, the accommodation element of the Itinerary will be held for an agreed period from the date of issue of the Itinerary. No other elements of the itinerary, including any arrangements with third party activity providers or venues, will be booked until a 20% non-refundable deposit is received by SYHA. If the deposit is not paid by the agreed date the accommodation will be automatically released and no further action will be taken to progress the Itinerary. If the costs of third party suppliers or venue exceed the deposit paid, additional payment may be requested.
l. All deposits/payments made by credit or debit card will be transacted at the time of booking confirmation, not on arrival at the Youth Hostel. Please note we do not accept American Express.
m. Online group bookings require full payment at the time of booking.
n. Timely confirmations and receipts will be sent for your records to the lead person.
o. When SYHA has received your deposit, this will form a binding contract with you. SYHA will send you or your travel agent the confirmation along with any other relevant or specific information that has been requested.
p. Where a credit agreement is in place between SYHA and a group organiser, the booking and payment terms will be as specified in the credit agreement.
q. Confirmation and Payment Requirements summary table:

The following group types are not accepted by this hostel: Stag/Hen/Bachelor Party If you have misrepresented the type of group you are booking for, your booking may be cancelled by the hostel."

Additional Info:

Standard Group bookings are defined as an organised group of 10 people or more and booking SYHA services only.

There is a legal requirement at licensed Youth Hostels for a minimum 1:10 ratio of adults to children.

SYHA Hostelling will endeavor to allocate “a group” together but in some situations this may be difficult due to the group number or the physical accommodation breakdown. On these occasions’ drivers, group leaders, persons may need to share room facilities with others.

For all group bookings, SYHA must receive a named rooming list, anticipated arrival time, notification of meal requirements and any special requirement provided at least 4 weeks (28 days) prior to arrival.

Every group is required to have a leader, regarded as the Lead Person, who is responsible for making and paying for the booking and is the main point of contact before, during and after the stay.

The Lead Person is required to be resident within the Youth Hostel throughout the duration of their booking and will be the contact person for our staff.

The Lead Person must be aged 18 years or over.

For all group bookings, SYHA must have a direct mobile telephone contact with the Lead Person whilst travelling, and a contact email address provided at least 72 hours prior to arrival.

Check-in is from 5pm on the day of arrival; however you are welcome to drop off any luggage in the morning. Some hostel may be able to accept earlier arrivals from 3pm but this should be confirmed in advance.

Departing groups must remove all their belongings from their room, and check out, before 10am. After this time groups may make use of the luggage storage facilities but all possessions must be removed from the room and the room key card handed back to reception.

Late check-outs will incur a charge of an additional night.

Any cancellations resulting from agreement to these terms and conditions under false pretences will result in loss of deposit.

Property Description

Set in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland, with stunning views over the town and surrounding area, Pitlochry Youth Hostel is perfectly located for anyone looking to explore Highland Perthshire.

Sitting away from the noise and bustle of the busy main street, the hostel offers a wide range of comfortable en-suite rooms and is great for groups, families and individual travellers.

Guests can opt for continental breakfast served in the large dining room, with fantastic views over the beautiful Perthshire countryside, or take advantage of the well-equipped self-catering kitchen.

WiFi is free for all guests and other facilities include a laundry, drying room and free onsite parking. Basic provisions, confectionery and soft drinks are available to purchase at reception. The hostel is licensed and there’s plenty of room to relax and enjoy a Scottish craft beer or glass of wine in one of the hostel’s two comfortable lounges, one with a TV.

Browse the shops, eat and drink in local restaurants, or visit the town’s two excellent distilleries. Other attractions include Pitlochry Festival Theatre, leaping salmon at the town’s fish ladder, Blair Castle and the Queen's View. Not forgetting the magical ‘Enchanted Forest’ in nearby Faskally woods in October - but remember to book early for this one!

    The Pitlochry Hostel was exceptionally good in all aspects. The young manager was very friendly and informative and set just the right tone. The kitchen facilities were excellent and the setting overlooking Pitlochry was just fabulous.

    We stayed at Pitlochry Youth Hostel for one night in August 2021. It's a great place - clean, well-run, and in an excellent location. We are grateful to the staff, who were friendly and helpful, and who very kindly looked after our bags both before check-in time and after check-out time. Thoroughly recommended.

    Good size dorm rooms with large kitchen, dining area and lounges. Always really clean. Views are fantastic. Kitchen doesn't open till 07.30am which for me is a little late.

    Great location and nice clean hostel. Staff on reception were very welcoming and helpful. It’s a pity the kitchen wasn’t open but this is understandable because of Covid though other hostels are managing to keep kitchens open. Would recommend.

    This was a great place to stay!! I understand that due to covid the facilities weren’t as they normally would have been, but it would have been great if there was even a microwave in use! The location was beautiful and the staff were super friendly, would definitely recommend staying here! Also loved that it was a private room

    If you’re coming from the train station, it’s up a hill!! And no lift, stairs only. There were two pillows on each bed which is great because usually the pillows at hostels are too thin and I have to fold them over. Staff was amazing. The lad checking me in was so incredibly helpful in recommending places for dinner and suggesting trails for me to walk the next day.
