You'll find Prisamata in a historic mansion dressed with colourful paintings, quirky photographs and woven hammocks. We want your every day to be exceptional here, even down to your daily coffee! Start your mornings with a free breakfast, and later head to our cool on-site bar for ice-cold beers. Better yet, take them out to our laidback common spaces and chill out in a Paraguayan hammock. If you hunger for a big excursion, we can arrange tours and activities from horseback riding to a three-day trip to Tolar Grande to see salt lakes, old mines and incredible landscapes.

Location

We're around a 15-minute walk from La Balcarce, so there's loads of nightlife on our doorstep. You'll find the best pubs, clubs and bars here, so if you came to party, you've come to the right hostel. The famously unique Tren a Las Nubes ('the train to the clouds') is also only a 5-minute walk. To get here from Martín Miguel de Güemes International Airport is around 30 minutes by taxi (pay about ARS200, equal to a few dollars or euros). Or you can catch a van at the airport for even cheaper.

Rooms and Dorms

We have private rooms, mixed dorms and female-only dorms. The shared bathrooms have hot water that's available 24/7, though you'll need to bring your own towel. To help you sleep well, we have blackout curtains and fans in all the rooms. Keep your stuff in our secure lockers and chuck your coat on the provided rack. Devices running low? Your room comes with a universal socket with a USB charger.

Extras and activities

Grab a free city map at reception to find your way around our exciting city. Or if you're staying in, practise your hand at ping pong or get stuck into a book from our exchange. When you're hungry, you can cook up a snack to share in our fully equipped kitchen. We even have a BBQ that's perfect for warm evenings. Traditional asado anyone?

One of the better hostels I've stayed at. Comfy beds, which also had power bars with all different outlet types. Common area was very chill, good to hang out in. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

My father and I stayed for 5 nights at Prisamata. The hostel is in a great location, it is close to the central Plaza so we could enjoy the many cultural and historical spaces within the city. All facilities are great quality and design- it's a wonderful place to enjoy a lazy morning or return to after a big day of adventure. The staff were amazing! Particularly Aldana and Miguel who really looked after us and showed us a lot of kindness. We recommend Prisamata to anyone visiting Salta.

My all time favorite hostel experience was at Prismata because of the friends I made during my stay. The atmosphere is relaxed and at times social. The hammocks make a nice space to work or hang out. The bus trips from the hostel are worth signing up for and the staff can recommend where to rent a car. Get out and explore the area and enjoy music at bars!

    Fabulous

Rodrigo was very helpful and nice. The vibe is chill, and there is plenty of common space. However, if you're asthmatic, beware: smokers (including some staff) smoke inside, and even though there is technically an open-air area, the ventilation is not good, and smoke ends up everywhere in the hostel - it's inescapable.

+ nice staff well decorated good music playing all day relaxed atmosphere quiet neighbourhood close to the street with many restaurants/bars - some of the bathrooms in a bad condition everything is organized/not trashy but feels a bit damp/grimy weird smell in the first part of the hostel & room there is e.g. no real fresh air for the female dorm, because windows lead to yard with a rooftop (there are fans for each bed though) extra charges for card payment etc.

Not entirely sure why this hostel has such great reviews. It’s fine but not great. Plus points are: - blind for privacy on the bed - big lockers However - lacked atmosphere - dodgy WiFi - it didn’t feel very safe walking to the square at night as a solo female traveller - staff were a bit off. Not rude just not too bothered. Also was told I could pay by card then made to pay cash on check out which is really annoying with the cash situation in Argentina

Hostel was average. Private room was large, but extremely damp and smelly. The vibe was also average, seemed to be 3 volunteers working there for every guest. Volunteers mostly just lounged around all day and nobody seemed to take any ownership of anything. Breakfast is a tiny bowl of cornflakes and dry toast. They also booked us on a Spanish speaking only tour, which we had to cancel in the morning ruining the day. Overall, is what it is, a relatively cheap room, but wouldn't be going back.

In a private room or door wouldn't lock, so people kept coming in thinking it was a dorm. It was grimy everywhere. The pictures seem to have been taken 4 years ago, with no maintenance done since. Only one outlet in our room (there were 6) actually worked. The shower has some serious waterproofing issues. The bed was comfortable though!
