You'll find Quartier Bilbao Hostel in the medieval neighbourhood of Casco Viejo. Our sleek grey-and-white theme has the feel of a boutique hotel but the liveliness of a hostel. Pop up to the roof terrace for a cerveza with new friends, or bring your free breakfast up to eat in the sun. If you're more of a shade seeker, hang out in the common room with a good book.

The hostel is in the Old Town, 75 metres from the river and a 5-minute walk from Casco Viejo metro (Linea 1 will take you to the city centre). If you've come for a taste of Basque life, the Azkuna Zentroa cultural centre is a 20-minute walk. Or you could just order a cortado (milky espresso) like a local in one of the neighbourhood bars. Arrival by public transport is simple: we're a 12-minute walk from Bilbao-Abando Railway Station, and Bilbao Airport (6 kilometres away) is serviced by a regular bus.

Rooms and Dorms

Choose a female-only dorm, mixed dorm or private room; either way you'll have free bed linen and a roomy locker. All our rooms have air con and share bathrooms, except for en-suites in the private rooms and one women's dorm. Private rooms include towels, and if you're in a dorm you can rent one. Skip the stairs and take the elevator if you're carrying heavy bags! Make sure to log on our free Wi-Fi to let your family know you've arrived safely.

Extras and activities

We've added touches like hair dryers and a coffee machine to make your stay super comfortable. You'll find supplies to make tasty meals in the communal kitchen, but if you prefer to go out for pinxtos (small snacks) you can stay out as long as you like – no curfew here! Grab a free city map from reception and we'll point you towards the riverside walkway leading to the Guggenheim Museum and its famous giant flower dog.

Excellent hostel choice for Bilbao! If traveling in the summer, the AC in the rooms was a lifesaver. It doesn't have planned events like some hostels do and I often found the common spaces empty, but the facilities were always clean and the staff were always happy to help with whatever.

Relaxing hostel in the old town. Pros: lovely staff, pretty location, relaxing atmosphere Cons: not a party hostel but a good place to explore Bilbao from if you need some downtime. Rooms felt a bit cramped and creaky (floor/doors/lockers)

Very nice location, even though one gets a bit stuck in the old part of town and Bilbao has more to offer. Seems like a rather sociable place, but not a hostel where you meet people in the bar. However I had no issues meeting a great bunch of people.

This place was awesome!! Loved everything about it. The only con is since the front desk thought we were Deaf (reality: I'm Deaf and my partner isn't) so my partner overheard the front desk person explain a lot of information to other hearing people such as places to go, hidden gems, special restaurants to check out that had incredible deals, & when it was our turn, the person gave us limited info. Basically told us that the restaurants to check out was on this particular street and that was it.

    Very Good

Great central location (unsurprisingly noisy). Good range of facilities, including breakfast and baggage storage. Safe and suitable for families. Staff polite but not particularly knowledgeable or helpful.
