Welcome to Rock Solid Backpackers! We're all about helping you explore Rotorua at its best - and making some awesome friends along the way!
We are the only hostel (that we know of!) with a climbing wall a few steps away from your room. Experience New Zealand's tallest wall and enjoy a major discount when you stay with us.

Based on Hinemoa Street in the heart of Rotorua's CBD, we're a 4-Star Qualmark Gold hostel that offers a cozy home-from-home for travelers and backpackers. Here you can explore, make friends and have a great night's sleep at the end of the day. Our staff are previous and existing backpackers and we love to help you have a great stay, whatever you're wanting to do!

Right in the heart of Rotorua
- We're right in the center of Rotorua with access to shops, restaurants and cafes all around us. We're a few minutes walk from some of Rotorua's best attractions, including Polynesian Spa, Te Pa Tu Maori Village, Government Gardens, the Rotorua Lakefront and Kuirau Park. On Thursdays, the Rotorua Night Market is right outside our front doors.

- Whether it's meeting other travelers in the dorms or spreading out with a private room, we have a range of room types to suit your needs and budget. All rooms have two pillows as standard and warm, comfy beds, helping you to get a great sleep after a day of adventures.

Vibrant Atmosphere and Activities
- We run in-house activities throughout the week including the quiz, karaoke, scavenger hunts and movie nights, giving you more opportunities to meet other travelers and to win awesome prizes for local activities! Check out our Linkups and our Reception board for what's happening during your stay!

Welcoming Staff
- Our staff care about you having the best stay with us. A lot of us were backpackers in the past (or present) and are on hand to help with anything you need during your stay. Come see us and say Kia Ora!

Help booking your Activities
- We can book any activity in Rotorua, from hot springs and Maori village tours to whitewater rafting and more. If you're ever stuck with what to do, come see us at Reception for activities to suit your stay and budget. If you need a shuttle or a pickup, we can help you out!

Sustainable Champions
- We want to make as little impact on our environment as we can, and help you do the same! We recycle cardboard, paper, plastic, metal, soft plastics, glass, batteries, polystyrene and more. Our cleaning products and hostel supplies are sourced from sustainable suppliers, meaning they don't harm our environment!
