Property Description

Safari Lodge is located in the remote rainforest region of Cape Tribulation in Tropical North Queensland. If you are looking for Cape Tribulation accommodation, Safari Lodge offers both Safari Huts and camp sites, as well as a swimming pool and clean amenities in the tropical rainforest. Along with the Turtle Rock Cafe and Ocean Safari, the Safari Lodge site offers a complete Cape Tribulation package, featuring onsite Cape Tribulation accommodation, dining and Great Barrier Reef tours.

We offer Powered and Unpowered Campsites starting from $16pp with full camp kitchen and hot and cold showers.

We are also home of the Award-winning - Ocean Safari - Half day Turtle Tripper Adventure

Ocean Safari offers an exhilarating ride to snorkel the pristine untouched Great Barrier Reef off the Daintree Coast at Cape Tribulation. This half day eco tour visits two different snorkel destinations, each with an extraordinary array of marine life and coral species. After a fast 25 minute ride, you are ready to snorkel two fabulous locations at Mackay and Undine Reefs. On most days, the rainforest can be seen along the mainland beach whilst snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef alongside sea turtles, which are found in abundance swimming over reefs full of colourful coral, along with myriads of tropical fish, eagle rays, giant clams and starfish.

The tour begins at Cape Tribulation beach where you board the vessel bound for the tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef. The Ocean Safari vessel takes a maximum of 25 passengers allowing you to experience tropical paradise and the pleasure of a small group. The vessel is based on the original design of a rescue craft and is a rigid inflatable boat driven by 700hp engines.

The experienced Skipper and Eco Host ensure the trip is filled with fun and appreciation of the Great Barrier Reef and the coastal rainforest of the Daintree, two world heritage areas side by side. Magical memories like these sometimes only happen once in a lifetime.

Courtesy pickups from Cape Tribulation accommodation are included and the Ocean Safari tour is proud to have Advanced Eco Accreditation. Ocean Safari is located onsite at Safari Lodge, offering Safari Hut and camping accommodation in the tropical rainforest, and the Turtle Rock Cafe, so you can eat, stay and play in the one location!

An absolute must do!!! The cabin style dorms gave you a true experience of what it is like staying in the Daintree rainforest. The location was perfect and close to most walks and sights. Staff were really helpful and only too happy to help you get the most out of your visit. I also did their Ocean Safari trip to the Great Barrier Reef, which is also a must do! Overall a fantastic experience not to be missed!!!

Very clean and professional accommodation. Not many people there and the vibe was pretty quiet. But the cafe was great to have right there. Would definitely recommend!

I stayed in the 4 bed dorm cabin. A great experience overall. Warm, friendly staff. Lovely pool. Cape Tribulation has more of a down to earth feel than the resort towns of Palm Cove and Port Douglas, and I really loved that. It's a beautiful place. The cabins are very clean and well designed. I did a trip out to Mackay Reef with Ocean Safari (run as part of the lodge) and it was fabulous. I'd definitely stay again. Dinner options in Cape Tribulation appeared to be fairly limited.

Great location near restaurants, the Cairns bus, beaches and walking trails. Four bed dorms are small but clean and well maintained. Communal kitchen was clean and well stocked. Excellent shared bathroom. Staff very friendly and keen to help. Good relaxed atmosphere.

Great relaxed hostel with a good kitchen that even had recycling and composting facilities. Good value for money and has a great cafe attached. Only downside I found was the 4-bed dorms were a little cramped and there were no hooks to hang anything up, so bags/clothes quickly occupied the only available floor space

I really enjoyed my stay here. Only downside was that the fridge was waaay too small and no space provided to store dry foods. Had to use my own esky

I absolutely loved my time at safari lodge the environment is sensational. Facilities decent. Kitchen could use more utensils. Dorm rooms very small with no storage whatsoever and bottom bunks not very high so can’t sit in bed but other than that I recommend checking this place out. Make sure you hire a car to get up here. Bus only runs 3 times a week and no other transport available.

Really enjoyed our stay here! The place is so beautifully situated nestled into the forest and so close to the beaches. Lovely pool and a really nice common area / kitchenette outside. The breakfast at Turtle Rock Cafe was so yummy!! The staff were also very friendly and accommodating. The cabins were so cute, clean and tidy. Air-conditioning would have been nice though, but would definitely stay again!
