Property Description

Shenzhen is a legend in Chinese recent history. It has changed itself from a small fishing village to a metropolitan city in just over two decades. It is a catchment of all the elites both at home and aboard. It holds certain degree of resemblance to Hong Kong(which is just a stone's throw away) but also differs with its own character in many ways.

Hua Qiao Cheng (which means Overseas Chinese Townor 'OCT' was originally developed by a group of Chinese returned from overseas who eventually settled down there) is a well-developed and managed community - a live record showing how this fascinating city evolves.

Under the new social scenario, there is a movement that relatively old buildings and factories can be redeveloped to accommodate creative and design industry. The Creation & Art Park where the LOFT Youth Hostel and the Contemporary Art Center situate, is a classic example aiming to provide a place for artists and designers all over the world to meet under one roof through which people can inspire each other with a mixture of traditional and modern outlook of China to produce a new vocabulary.
Hua Qiao Cheng is well landscaped within a radius of 3.5 Km, about half of the space is full of trees and scrubs. It is a garden town inside a metropolitan city. Contemporary art centre, art studios, supermarkets, theme parks, mangrove nature reserve, botanic garden, ecological square and Yan Han Shan walking trail are all in the vicinity.
The Youth Hostel turns a somewhat unattractive worker dwellings into a simple but good quality budget accommodation and meeting place. The idea is to keep the original architecture and to incorporate it with contemporary style extension. The scale, proportion and proper use of basic materials are all the important elements to show the power of simplicity. By applying a contemporary design ethos to an existing structure, it creates a vision of different stages of the local history and the transformation of life style during the course of time.

We are a socially responsible establishment: Our mission is to promote cross-culture experience, environmental awareness and social learning. We help to broaden young people's horizon and understanding between fellowmen at home and abroad. View House Rules

I really really really liked this hostel. Possibly the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Fantastically located: supermarket, metro, park. Cafe downstairs. Very clean.

Complimentary slippers and towel are a huge plus in my book! Staff wasn't really talkative, but they did their job well. Was put on the fifth floor and there's no elevator so got to get some exercise. One bathroom and one shower per floor. Never really had to compete with others, but I also go at odd times. Kettle in the room

Stayed in a private double room with en-suite and it was lovely. Could have easily been a hotel. Basic but that’s all you need when you’re out all day and want somewhere comfy, clean, and air conditioned to sleep and get ready. Brilliant place. Highly recommend.

Location was so nice, located in the OCT area. Lots of nice little bars and restaurants. Close to 3 metro stations. We went to NBeer for a small pizza and chicken. Staff on arrival were really nice and friendly, most spoke decent English. Room was spacious but quite a bit of mold, critters and shower head kept falling off the wall. The lobby is really nice with indoor and outdoor seating where you can get a nice bacon sandwich! Make sure you go to the Shenzhen city light show, it’s lit...

Super cool place - amazing location in the most hipster area I have seen in China. Lacks a little atmo, however, I didn’t really mind as there are so many cool places around it to chill out. Would be my first choice if I had to stay again 👌

Fair hostel, in general it was clean. Just one day the toilet was a mess. The location is not bad,15 min walk from metro station, however other than oct-loft there is not much around

Great place to stay in a very trendy/hipster part of Shenzhen. The facilities were great and the supermarket was next door which was very handy for cheap cold beers or a quick meal. The coffee shop located inside of the Loft was also on par to Melbourne standards. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and ended extending for four nights in total. The staff were friendly however only spoke basic English.

Ensuite-shower/bathroom private twin room. Location: Middle of OCT Loft (one of major attractions), next to big supermarket, surround by garden, cafe, restuarant. Easy access to good coffee but not all the food, definitely pricey. Appx 1 KM walking distance to Qiaocheng station of Metro line 1 (green line) which is easily linked to line 11 for airport. Room: Quite old but clean, small bedroom but shower in same size. NO elevator!! Poor drain system, get smelly easily. No TV. Staff: friendly.

    Very Good

this a place has great location. In terms of how clean was this place , i have to say that not very clean. I think they might clean rooms 1 time per month ( I'm being good with them). They have a big open restaurant downstairs. You can try to socialize over there but music is too loud . Therefore sometimes is hard to have a conversation in this place. I stayed there for 4 days . For my purposes was good enough 4 days. if you choose to stay there try no more than 3 days.
