This was one of the best hostels I have stayed at in recent years. The beds were comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful, location very convienent to V&A Waterfront. Breakfast was the same every morning but filling (fruit and yogurt, muffin, hard boiled egg, toast).

Shoestring lived to its name being budget yet it delivered on a sheer value for money experience, not compromising on any hostel facilities one might need Security was good further notch up was the staff around. One must talk to the tour help desk as they helped me design a beautiful VictoriaFalls experience with sunset cruise and helicopter ride at a competitive rate. The place is not so far from the small city centre. Vicfalls is indeed a small walkable town. Washrooms were clean

The staff were friendly and helpful, the ticket system was a little odd and a waste of paper. Perhaps switch it to making 1 ticket worth 1 drink and have different tickets based on the type of drink. I.e. 1 ticket is for water (at US$1) another is for a beer ($3), etc. the location is good and weekends are wild! If you don’t like to party get a room in the back and bring earplugs. Some bunk beds need to be repaired as my top bunk fell one night, luckily no one was injured :) I’d stay here again!

Stayed there before and must say that the property is a bit more run down than it used to be. It is still ineed a good place to hang out and to meet people coming from other hotels nearby. The pool could be cleaner but the largest part of the staff makes up for one flawn or another.

Incredible location, within walking distance to everything. Expensive yes but good value for the area, Vic Falls is expensive in general. Staff are amazing and very helpful! Be sure to visit the booking desk to find out more about what to do and see in the area as well as to book transport 👌

Everything was too old and appearing dirty. Shower was not good and leaked a lot. They say there is a restaurant, but most of the options were not avaiable. To go to the city centre you have to walk on really dark streets. I didn't feel safe or confortable there.

The room was horrible, bunk beds literally fell down whilst asleep in them. Facilities were also horrid, showers and toilets, didn't work, had no locks on them, had weeds and branches growing into them. Good location, and nice to have a functioning bar that allowed for something to do every night. No one knew what room we were in, when we arrived, when we were leaving, could have easily left without paying, we had to tell them how much to pay as they overcharged us.

I’ve used Hostelworld for 3 years and this is the first time I want to leave a review because I don’t want anybody else to be in my situation. This hostel is the worst hostel ever. 1. The bathrooms are super dirty and floors are broken 2. The wifi works only in the bar and after 6 pm the bar is filled with local people drunk and high 3. The rooms are far away in the back away from light. There is one table fan for all 4. Only one key per room for all members Choose Vic falls backpackers

Not sure why Shoestrings gets good reviews. Filthy restrooms, very few actual guests but tons of locals partying all night, loud music directly outside the dorm until 130 AM, rude staff. Having only 1 key for a dorm room to share and leave at the front desk makes no sense at all, is unsafe and a hassle. Close to town, but I'll never stay here again.
