Property Description

Located close to the Metro and the local party area of “LA 70”, The Wandering Paisa offers the most authentic cultural experience in Medellin. We seek to immerse travelers in the local Paisa culture while providing them with a safe and comfortable place to stay with local activities and events.

Weekly Activities:
- Free Salsa Classes
- Language Exchange (meet locals!)
- Karaoke Night
- Stand Up Comedy
- Open Mic

We are located in the upscale neighborhood of Laureles, a block from the local hotspots of La Setenta and La 33, where prices are affordable, the locals are plenty and the bar/club scene is vibrant. We also are less than 5 minutes walking from the Metro system, which can bring you virtually anywhere in the city.

Our knowledgeable and bilingual staff will be more than happy to provide you with any information on tourist activities in Medellin and the surrounding areas as well as make bookings for tourist activities and airport pickups.

Decorated with a bohemian theme that pays tribute to South American and Colombian culture, our hostel boasts some of the best services in town. With 4 dorms (no larger than 8 beds each) and 3 privates, every room in our hostel has its own unique country theme, each hand painted by local art students.

In our rooms, we have the best bunks in Medellin, designed with privacy dividers, orthopedic mattresses, and a locker for storage under the bed. Most importantly, these beds are not the kind that squeak or move when you climb up, allowing you to sleep comfortably in peace and quiet. We also have six fully remodeled bathrooms, with 24-hour hot water and brand-new computer workstations.

Inside the hostel, travelers can relax and play Nintendo Wii on our 42-inch plasma screen T.V. equipped with cable television and a large selection of DVDs. For stunning views of the surrounding mountains, travelers can climb to the top of our castle-like terrace located on the roof of the building. If you are feeling social, you can kick it in our 'Paisa Bar' which serves both nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages.

Occasionally, local musicians have been known to play live music on our sundeck/stage, while travelers chill out on hammocks and listen to the grooves on the nearby balcony. We also have a huge kitchen, speedy laundry service, high-speed Internet access and free wifi. View House Rules

Nice hostel in the laureles neighborhood! The front desk woman when we checked in was so incredibly sweet. There’s also a very good restaurant on the corner that serves traditional food!

Far from many tourist attractions but located in a lively neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and bars and quick access to the train. This place definitely has a party vibe and houses a younger crowd. Accommodations are tight in the 8-bed dorms but showers have hot water. Shower shoes are a must! Great spot to meet other travelers if you're flying solo. Hostel provides lots of in-house entertainment options like a comedy night. Staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

I loved my stay at the Wandering Paisa!! Super good vibes, its the type of hostel where you book for three days then stay the whole week. The kitchen is super nice and theres plenty of hang out space and they have cool events like language exchange and concerts which lets you met local people and get a taste for the local scene. The rooms are pretty compact and theres not too much storage space Id say but its definitely doable.

This hostel was a great budget option. It's not located in the popular Pobaldo neighborhood (only 10 minutes by taxi), but you'll still find great food and nightlife within walking distance and have more interactions with local Colombians. You must try the restaurant at the end of the corner, it's super affordable and delicious!

Nice hostel if you are looking to get away from Poblado and into laureles which is a great area in itself. I dropped marks on security as the lockers are out in the hall rather than in the bedroom. Also felt that they left a bit to be desired on the cleanliness, that could be just due to the lack of natural light which can make things seem a bit grimier but that was my impression so want to be honest. Great atmosphere in the place and attracts a great type of traveller. Bar is great

    Very Good

At first I thought it might be a mistake to stay outside of El Poblado but I was wrong, this a great location. It’s a lovely area which you wouldn’t visit otherwise. It’s not a party hostel. The bar wasn’t, or didn’t appear to be open. We got lucky with nice guests otherwise it could be a bit lifeless. Evie was a great staff member, the others seemed distracted and not very helpful. The 8 bed dorm was a little hot. Otherwise good and still very good value for money.

Basically a large house someone put bunkbeds in. The place is old & dingy. Bathrooms are mildewy and have bad plumbing. The beds have stained sheets & flat pillows. For the price, the single private is the best option. Clean & comfortable. The double private is crammed and loud. Kitchen is decently stocked. Easy place to just chill kinda boring. Best social night was karaoke. Least favorite thing is the location. Close to La 70 which is super local and I didnt feel comfortable walking around.

The description of this place doesn't match with reality. Beds are very basic, and the room I was in was very cramped. Social atmosphere is really bad. Bar was closed while I was there. There were a number of miserable old men in their 40's and 50's who were there. Just in general, quite drab and miserable. Location in Laureles though is good, staff seem nice enough and it's very cheap. But compared to how it's presented on website, it disappoints.
