About

Looking for an off-the-beaten-path experience in Medellín?

Spend a night at Hostal del Cielo ! We are the first hostel located at the top of a peaceful Barrio (Favela) in Medellín! The closest to the Comuna 13 ! Once dangerous, the barrio is now entirely secure and peaceful. Our founder, Thomas, a Frenchman, has lived here for almost 2 years. He lives on-site.

// WE'VE *FIBER* FOR NOMADES - WIFI IS *REALLY FAST* //
// BUSES EVERY 3 MINUTES TO GO DOWN TO THE CENTER //
// 24 HOUR TAXI SERVICES WITHOUT COMMISSION //

You will be in Medellín but here the nature is still abundant, you listen the birds, the air is not polluted, everyone says hello in the street ... In a nutshell : Authenticity. And the view of the city is ... absolutely insane ! Enjoy it from our 360-degree rooftop of Medellín with a beer or cocktail !

We guarantee you a homely atmosphere with our caring team. You will meet solo travelers, groups of backpackers, young and old, and Colombians : our hostal is partner of Call me Mami Hostal, a non-profit organization based at the same place ! Take time and share with locals! We do many events with them.

Among the facilities on offer are : home-made catering (breakfast, lunch and diner), 360-degree rooftop, several terraces, bar, drinks, beers, cocktails, ball jacuzzi, viewpoint, pool table, multi-gym machine, beer pong, FIBER SPEED Wi-fi, collective kitchen, hammocks, board games, Playstation (FIFA, GTA...), yoga and sports mats ... We offer various Day-time activities (moto tour, coffee farm...) and classes (salsa, empanadas, graffiti...).

Among the lodging options on offer are : modern mixed dorm rooms of 8. Our dorm rooms are equipped with comfy 'orthopedic' mattresses, quality bed linens, private bathroom, showers with hot water, lockers in your room, USB plugs, individual reading lights and curtains for each bed. We also have private rooms (with shared bathroom), one of them has a flat-screen TV with netflix and access to a terrace.

Our hostel and our sector are quiet and not noisy at night, ideal for resting, sleeping on comfortable mattresses and recovering your energy before setting off on another adventure ! The barrio can be a bit noisy (music) on Saturday evenings or on holiday periods such as December (a magical month here).

Amazing view over the city. If you are staying in Medellin for more than one night I highly recommend staying here for at least a night. Easy enough bus to downtown and back. Wonderful and helpful hosts. Also this is the only hostel outside of the pico y placa border (if have a vehicle this is important!).

Best hostel view in all of Medellin. good place to chill out. owner was incredibly nice and helpful. not a lot of people staying here but the ones who did were social. only downside is that it's far from most activities so taxi costs can get a bit expensive. still highly recommend to experience a different side of Medellin.

Great experience of a favella community environment without needing to worry about safety. Very friendly community and felt very safe and comfortable walking around, even to neighbouring communities. Basic shopping, haircuts etc all around area and atm 25 minutes walk away (and it is a fascinating walk!). Worth it just to support Thomas and what he is doing in the community. Glad I came.
