Overview

From the minute you step through the door and see our bright murals – painted by local artists – we reckon you'll be wowed by Vertigo Vieux-Port. Our social areas, from the spice-stocked kitchen to the TV lounge, mean we're as fun and lively as Marseille itself. Whether you're chatting to new friends over the free breakfast, or showing old mates YouTube videos using the free Wi-Fi, you'll feel right at home here. Our friendly, multi-lingual staff will do their best to make sure of it.

Location

We’re in the Old Port area, a short walk from beaches, bars and clubs. The central market is an 8-minute stroll away, and the iconic Notre Dame church is 15 minutes by foot. To get to us from the airport, you can take the shuttle bus to St Charles Train Station, then jump on the metro (take the blue line) towards La Fourragère before jumping off at Vieux Port (the Old Port). You can stroll to us in 20 minutes from there.

Rooms and Dorms

We've got private rooms or mixed and female-only dorms to pick from – all with en-suites so you won't have to wake up early to avoid those morning queues. Linen's included, and your comfy wooden bunk has a storage locker under it for the backpack. We keep our dorms spotlessly clean (just like the rest of our hostel!).

Extras and activities

If a chilled out morning's on the agenda, open up a novel from the book swap or borrow one of our travel guides for inspiration on your next destination. You can also ask our staff about their tips – whether for Marseille or elsewhere in France. We've got free city maps to have a look at, too. The luggage storage means you can check out but keep your bags here until you're ready to leave the city.

I was in this hostel 4 years ago. Now the hostel is bigger and the reception is in a new place. the check in is in the street Sainte 75. the travelers in the hostel talks each other so it is easy to meet new people. I was in the room for 16 people. the room was quite big, 2 floors in the room. it was not so hot in the room less than in others hostels I travelled in France in summertime. nice staff in the bar. the breakfast costs 3.5 euros. the coffee in the machine is not good.

Really cool hostel. Love the common room kitchen area. You can't go there and not meet fellow travellers of all ages. Room was nice and clean and spacious. Perfect location. Nice bar downstairs for food and drink and breakfast. You can't fault it.

    Fabulous

The place in itself was nice; clean bathroom, proper kitchen, fridge, common areas to work/socialize, near from M1 or bus 60, there is a Lidl nearby. But during one night two of my dormmates lost his bag and his phone (the reason for bad point on security). The breakfast was plentiful as well if you came early (8-9 am). Would recommend if you're on a tight budget.

The location is very nice, close to metro station and the old port. The staffs were helpful. Based on the facility, the hostel is quite expensive.

I got my stuff (backpack) stolen from my dorm. The answer of the owner was: “I can’t supervise what happens in a dorm of 12 beds”. If you go there make sure to use the lockers (small lockers) and bring ur own padlock (cuz it cost 1€) and cuz the owner gives 2 s**** about u, it’s just a money maker.
