Property Description

Voted the best hostel in France for 2011 by Hostelworld customers!

Vertigo Vieux Port is a newly renovated hostel in Marseille. As for Vertigo Centre that opened three years ago, you can find the feeling of a second home here.

We’re located in the Old Port area, walking distance from beaches, bars, clubs, the central market and the famous Notre Dame church.

We offer charming two-, three-, four-, five- and six-bed rooms. All of our dorms are very clean and equipped with comfy wooden bunk beds, private shower and toilet facilities. The five- and six-bed dorms are equipped with two private bathrooms.

Every room in our hostel is carefully designed and decorated by local artists according to the unique character of each room.

Our building was renovated from two typical buildings which makes for a modern cosy atmosphere, while at the same time it has the feel of a typical Marseillean house.

We offer a ton of free amenities, such as breakfast, Wi-Fi, linen, a fully-equipped kitchen with free spices, city maps, personal travel info, use of our travel guidebooks, luggage storage, book swap and a valuables safe at reception – all for free!

Our friendly, caring and multi-lingual staff are here 24hrs a day to answer all your questions. We'll try our best to make you have a memorable stay in our hostel and in Marseille. And of course there’s no curfew, no lockout and no stupid rules!

We'll make sure that you feel like you're home here. After you have been either on the road all day, or walking around in the city, you'll be able to relax in our cosy and friendly common areas, have a drink, talk and make friends.

**We accept a MAXIMUM of 7 nights stay in every 3 month period in dormitory style rooms.
**No check out and check in on same date allowed, minimum 1 night between check out and check in.

I really enjoyed my time at Vertigo! It was my first hostel experience and I felt super safe. I do wish there was more of an open common area but I was in the 16 person room so I had no problem meeting people! The staff was super nice as were the other guest I was rooming with! The location was ideal walking distance to everything I wanted to do!

Loved my stay at Vertigo! The hostel wasnt easy to find at first but once your there it's incredible. The sights are all very close by. The supermarket is around the corner and the kitchen was in a garage which is amazing. Breakfast was provided and I liked it, cornflakes and baguette and tea, orange juice and coffee to drink.

Liked the place so much I extended for 2 nights. A bit more expensive at the weekends, great place to meet people and get ideas for your stay. Not too happy about children staying here tho, kinda killed the common room on my last night

Rooms are quite large and bathrooms were well maintained. The atmosphere is largely non-existent, with most people generally keeping to themselves. Overall, the location is fairly central located next to the harbour with plenty of restaurants/bars to choose from. Wouldn’t recommend to a solo traveller or those wanting to stay more than a couple nights.

Nice location close to the train station. No atmosphere to meet people and staff were not the most friendly, nor did they show me to my room. Not a place to meet people.

Staff felt a bit incompetent. I asked for advice about local things to do and they weren't very helpful. Also didn't feel like it was a great hostel vibe, but that could happen anywhere I suppose. Breakfast was mediocre, people kept to themselves. Hostel location was pretty good, though.
