Hostelworld says

Wombats City Hostel was rated the most popular in Munich at the 2017 Hoscars and we're not surprised. This friendly hostel offers a lot of nice extras to guests, such as parking in the basement, a fully-stocked bar and a frequently praised all-you-can-eat breakfast. We particularly like the hammocks and bean bags in their glass-roofed courtyard, where travellers can relax even during poor weather. They're located just 10 minutes' walk from the Oktoberfest and most sights in the city centre, as well as near the U-Bahn and international trains at the Hauptbahnhof.

Property Description

Welcome to our comfortable Hostel in Munich!
We're just a stone's throw from the main train station which also serves as the major public transportation hub.
It’s not much further to the old town (5-minute stroll) and we're within walking distance to the Oktoberfest grounds.

Of all the hostels/hotels popping up in Munich this does the best job in combining style with location. ‘Past the glassed-in courtyard you'll find a friendly expat staff, pleasant if modular furnishings and private showers and toilets in every room.' (Lonely Planet)

We have amply dimensioned dormitories and most doubles come with their own terrace. We're especially proud of our air-conditioned, glass-roofed courtyard with real trees!

If you travel by car, we've got private parking too.
Please send us an e-mail for more information regarding car parking.

The five reasons why Wombats City Hostel became a destination in their own right are:

Outstanding cleanliness!
Unfortunately not something to take for granted but we do take this seriously: we've won Hostelworld's 'Cleanest Hostel Worldwide' award, twice.

Excellent amenities!
We're centrally located and close to the trains and public transport.
There's maximum security with smartcard access for the front door, the floors, the rooms and your locker. All rooms come with comfy wooden beds, a private shower, toilet facilities and lockers for your belongings.
You'll get a set of bed linen, a small welcome drink, Wi-Fi as well as our self-made city map with all essential information about the activities in town – all of which is for free.

In addition, we offer an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet (for an additional fee), yoga classes, internet terminals, laundromats, 24/7 reception service and our lively womBAR serving cheap drinks and food.

We're the hostel by travellers for travellers!
We've travelled the world ourselves - so we know firsthand about your needs and expectations from us. We care for you and your feedback.

Great social atmosphere!
We ensure that you will feel safe and welcome here. When you've been on the road all day, seeing sights and visiting museums for example, it's great to come back to a pleasant scene at the hostel where you can have some beers, talk and make friends. This will make your stay memorable! Many travellers stayed significantly longer than primarily intended.

You may well find a cheaper place to crash in town, but none where you get more value for your money.

We were voted the Best Hostel Chain Worldwide at the Hoscars on several occasions. We promise to keep it up!

We look forward to welcoming you!

Please note that you need to be at least 18 years old to stay in our hostel. View House Rules

Great hostel - nice staff and atmosphere and the place was clean. It also felt very secure and was close to the city centre. Jamie who took us on the Dachau Memorial tour was great too!

Pretty much slap bang in the centre, and about 2 min walk from the station. The staff are incredibly helpful, my mate chunned all over my stuff and the guys at the desk really helped me get my act together. Bar has a really good vibe, and everything’s really clean.

Nice enough hostel. Provides for the basic needs. The womBar was a bit loud especially if you’re staying right above it but it also provides a good environment to meet people. It’s a little expensive for what you actually get but the staff is amazingly helpful and will answer all your questions and tell you where to go and what to see. 15 minutes walk to city centre so it’s a super good location.

clean, well-appointed hostel within easy walking distance of many of Munich's must-see destinations. slightly grittier neighborhood, but never felt unsafe, even late at night. hostel itself was very clean, with friendly staff, great lounging/communal areas, a fun bar and great amenities. rooms had large private lockers, comfortable beds, and private showers which was fantastic. would definitely stay here again.

It is totally a very nice hostel with a stylish hint. Unfortunately, my mattress was pretty old and saggy. There might be an opportunity to change it.

Was a nice hostel. Very close to the train station which was nice but a good 30 mins walk to the main city. Wifi was very bad wvsn in the common areas. Kitchen was small and not a lot of fridge space.

Great hostel, walking distance to everything we wanted to see. I found it clean in the dorms & the public spaces. The only negative comments I can make are that the staff require a photo ID in order to give you an access card but won’t take a passport. Almost left me without a room! Also, the lockers are too small for packs or bags so the room had people’s luggage on the floor.

Wombats City Hostel Munich says

We're right next to the Old Town so all the attractions are close! The one place we definitely recommend that guests visit is the Hofbräuhaus, obviously. That's why everyone comes to town - but we'd recommend not spending a lot of time with a tourist trap. Munich also has one of Europe's oldest public parks, the Englischer Garten. It's twice the size of New York's Central Park, has a lake, a standing wave for surfers, a nude beach and no less than four huge beer gardens.
The main age group of our guests is 19 to 29, like in almost every other hostel. In contrast to these, though, we don't only attract one set of people. Quite a lot of our guests don't usually stay in hostels but give it a try at wombat's because we've been recommended. We've seen couples in their 50s, or families, and they were just as satisfied as the 19-year-old American college kid who spends most of his time, err, getting wasted at the hostel bar. The highlight of the Hostel is the 'Wintergarten', an air-conditioned glass-roofed patio with great design furniture to hang out and chillax.
