Wontonmeen is an oasis for the adventurous traveler, the creative artist, cultural warrior, and observant designer. There was a unique charm, glowing energy, and just-right cleanliness. Patricia, the maître d'hôtel, is a genuine and authentic HK native that has built this hostel's character with a sense of community building, artistic design, and visual details that truly create an aesthetic that you won't find elsewhere. Beds & sheets were great. Local HK community space, full of musik & love.

I had a great stay at the Wontonmeen. The host and her husband were very nice and the communication was super easy; she always replied fast. The bathroom and showers were always very clean. During my stay the hostel was not fully booked so it was rather quiet. I personally really liked the common room where I met a few great people to hang out with. I can definitely recommend this place (also for women traveling by themselves, as I was). :-)

This place is really nice, unfortunately with the current protests in Hong Kong it was very quiet and this hostel is really being affected with the lack of tourism. It was only a short stay this time but I will definitely be back and will stay here again. Great staff who can really tell you a lot about the area, free tea and coffee, snacks and plenty of restaurant and tour recommendations.

Pros: Location: a 10 minute walk away from Prince Edward MTR. it's near the Bar areas of prince edward as well so great if you want to chill in Kowloon side. Staff: Kudos to Patricia who was very welcoming and nice, even inviting me to her gathering at the cafe below. Cons: A slight con would be there's not much of a social atmosphere. Could be because the common area is on a different section so people don't really hang out in it much? But the area is actually quite cool.

Patricia, the owner, was very friendly and accommodating and happy to recommend places to eat / things to see. We were able to leave our bags in the hostel for the day before we flew late night which was useful. The only downside was that we arrived at 8am and the cafe & hostel don’t open until midday (check in at 2pm) nor do the surrounding cafes so we did have to sit In McDonald’s for about 5 hours before check in. But if you contact before this may be flexible I’m told.

Unfortunately, the photos may not reflect the room reality. We were booked in a shared dorm but this was required for a large group so we were offered single rooms at the same price. Good idea, but workmen started renos while we were out and left the room open, valuables inside. We did appreciate the attempts to rectify the situation but can not upgrade our "one off" rating.
