Salt Lake City is located in northern Utah, in-between the Great Salt Lake and the Wasatch Mountain Range. The city’s name, you may have guessed, was given because of the large salt water lake that lies directly northwest of it. The Great Salt Lake is the largest salt water lake in the Western Hemisphere, although due to its shallowness, its size varies depending on evaporation and how much water is flowing in from its main tributaries.

Salt Lake City public transportation gives you access to everything from the airport to the ski resorts. It has Commuter trains, called FrontRunner, that offer service from Ogden to Provo, right through downtown Salt Lake City. Three light-rail lines, called TRAX, also run through Downtown and across Salt Lake Valley, and are linked to buses as well. To top it all off, Salt Lake City offers a GREENbike service, so you can pedal around all you want!
