Central Backpackers

Located in the heart of the city, Central Backpackers is within walking distance of Oxford’s many restaurants, cafés and shops, as well as iconic landmarks including the Bodleian Library, Radcliff Camera and Oxford Castle.

We are located within a 5 minute walk from the train station and bus station making your arrival and onward journey hassle free. There are easy connections to various airports, including Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton, Stansted and Birmingham as well as regular direct bus and train services to London and other UK destinations.

Recently refurbished, the hostel is a great place to socialize and meet people. There is a lively rooftop terrace, along with a self-catered, fully equipped kitchen including free tea and coffee, just waiting for tasty dishes to be cooked. If you want to chill or watch a movie, our lounge area is open 24h and equipped with a TV and loads of DVDs. Free wi-fi can be accessed throughout the building.

With a variety of dorm sizes, as well as a female only dorm, we have the right accommodation for your stay. Fresh linen, including a towel for the shared bathrooms, is inclusive in the price. Also available is free luggage storage for guests, an iron and hairdryer if needed, as well as an inhouse laundry service for a small fee.

The security and comfort of our guests are our number one priority. The hostel is equipped with door code access for the front door – no curfew! Each room has swipe card entry and is equipped with individual lockers for use with your own lock. Please note that the building is more than 100 years old with no elevator/lift. For mobility limited guests there are 40 stairs from ground floor to accommodation level. Please contact the hostel for further details.

We require all guests to provide a valid debit or credit card when booking. The hostel will take payment 48h before arrival. Please ensure you bring your photo ID which is required for check-in. For guests that have booked with "Pay now" a valid credit card must be presented upon check-in, and card details will be stored securely for the duration of your stay.

Additional Information
- Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult and placed in a private dorm. Please, contact us before arrival.
- Groups welcome (no stag or hen parties). For groups of 5 people or more, or for stays longer than 6 days, please contact us by email and we will take care of your booking.
- 48h cancellation policy. Cancellation within 48hrs will be charged the full amount of the reservation. Non-arrivals will have the total cost of the booking levied against your credit card.
