Whether you're travelling alone, with friends or a family, there's space for everyone to feel safe and welcomed.
We're not luxurious . We offer free breakfast, tea and Wi-Fi.

The hostel takes place in a traditional berber house. It has private rooms as well as dorms that lead to an open courtyard from which you can see the stars at night. In the back, overlooking the west oasis, you'll find a second terrace where its possible to enjoy a bonfire in the evening.

Our doors has been open to travellers since 1994. You can arrive at any time, day or night. Have some tea. Take a rest. Plan your stay. Ride a camel into the desert to watch the sunset. Hike to Erg Chebbi summit to watch the sunrise. Camp in the desert. Sleep under the stars. Take a traditional sauna by being buried in the sand. Ride sandboards down the dunes. Share meals. Connect with other travellers. Life lessons are free of charge.

We're located at the heart of the town of Merzouga. You can find everything by walking a few seconds: markets, cafes, restaurants, shops and so on. The dunes are 10 minutes walk from the hostel and reachable at anytime, while the nomad camps and black desert are more easily reached via camel or ATV.

After trekking in the desert, you can relax in the outdoor terrace or in the spacious common areas. Its the perfect place to meet and exchange with fellow travellers. Reception is open 24/7 and the hostel owner, Hassan, is happy to answer any questions you may have.

Desert trips can be arranged on request. Luggage storage is also included before you check in and after you check out.

WARNING: While CTM ends in RISSANI, an additional 15MAD shared taxi will bring you to the hostel.

Note that 4x4 guides will offer a ride for 10MAD, but they will take you deep into the desert and overcharge for camel tours.

Cancellations or changes are accepted up to 24 hours prior to arrival.

I had an incredible stay. Originally booked 3 nights and ended up staying for 2 weeks. Hassan’s hostel was a great place to actually get to know Merzouga. I highly recommend skipping the “3 day tour” to explore the area. Walk through the gardens, explore the nearby mines, and talk with locals. It’s well worth the effort to get out there on your own. Hassan was a fantastic host and I’m looking forward to planning my next visit.

It was a pleasure to meet Hassan, the owner, a gentleman and very authentic person. He was welcoming in a very simple and genuine way, so that I felt at home in his hostel. The artwork left on the walls by previous guests is amazing, some worthy of being in a gallery, in my opinion. I recommend spending several nights. Take your time with the dunes, buy some fossils or meteorites, drink tea, chat with the other guests (some long-termers), pet the cats, or just do nothing! There will be cats.
