Timbuktu Hostel is the first and only Hostel in San Vito lo Capo, a fisherman town located on the west coast of Sicily, the largest island of Italy. We have a big citrus garden, living room, kitchen, rooftop terrace with sea and mountain view. The walls of our hostel are isolated to help keep the temperature constant to reduce the use of air conditioning, our cleaning products are environmentally friendly, we use solar panels to heat the water, most of the wood at the hostel is coming from recycled wood or FSC (managed forests).

Timbuktu Hostel is located in St Pier Santi Mattarella 199, San Vito lo Capo, Sicily. The Hostel is few minutes away from anything in town, San Vito lo Capo its a small town of 4500 people. The city center is only 12 minutes away where you can visit the big church. On Tuesday and Friday you can shop at the local markets, just 7 minute away from the Hostel. If you wanna get some good fresh fish, the port is only 15 minutes away.

All of our rooms have en suite bathroom, USB plugs, linen included, hot shower 24h, air condition, wardrobe, lockers, free WiFi. We will try to make a difference to our land and to our planet by supporting ecological projects so if you are staying with us, you are making a difference as well!

This feels more like a home than a hostel in the very best way. The location was a bit far from the center (10-15 min walking each way which gets tiring many times a day) The only thing about the hostel I did not like was that my last day the older woman (I think the owner) started cleaning the dorm at 9 am while I was trying to sleep. Otherwise super nice staff, especially Sonja who was so lovely to me. She is one of a kind and you could see she really cared about the guests

I have mixed feelings about my stay here. Sonia was wonderful and incredibly kind, but the atmosphere often felt clique-y and not very inclusive. Staff and some locals – not guests – frequently took over the common spaces, with little interest in connecting with travelers, which felt like it defeated the purpose of staying in a hostel. I truly wanted to love this place, but it lacked the usual warm, welcoming community vibe I was hoping for — and several other guests shared the same impression.

Highly recommend this place. The people working at the hostel are extremely friendly and welcoming. The shared spaces are very relaxed and homely but also everything is very organized. The place is also very clean and there is a nice vibe amongst all guests and people working there
