Chill Out Hostel Boracay

Tropical Boracay is one of the Philippines' best-known islands, famous for white sand beaches and a party atmosphere. It was closed for six months in 2018 in a high-profile clean-up operation and since reopening has focused on environmental sustainability. Away from its palm-fringed shores, a host of coral reefs and diverse marine life makes for spectacular diving and snorkelling. You can also take part in beach activities like sailing, mermaid lessons and jet skiing.

Boracay hostels range from traditional Filipino accommodation, to upcycled container rooms and boutique hostels with intimate rooftop bars. Some have eco-friendly features including solar-heated showers or bicycle rental. There are also plenty of opportunities to socialise. Most hostels in Boracay come with communal areas, lively bars and outdoor pools, and several run events like free pasta or free rum nights. You can even take part in a boodle fight – a Filipino tradition where everyone tucks into a shared buffet meal. 

One of Boracay's most popular neighbourhoods is White Beach, a 4km stretch of sand known for its buzzing bars, resorts and shopping. On the other side of the island, windy Bulabog Beach is less commercial and a favourite with kitesurfers. The northern tip of the island, Yapak, is where to find pristine shorelines such as Puka Shell Beach and upscale Diniwid Beach. Manoc-Manoc is home to resorts and diving sites and you can try watersports like sailing and waterskiing over its vibrant coral reefs.

Most things to see and do in Boracay focus on its beaches and ocean, whether that's enjoying a boat trip at sunset, snorkelling around White Beach or heading to one of the island's many diving spots. Take a boat to Aklan mainland to see the tumbling Jawili Falls or explore Boracay Island's gigantic Bat Cave. If it's relaxation you're looking for, you can try one of the many spas. Masseuses also roam the busier beaches, so you can have those knots in your back kneaded out without leaving your sunbed.

The closest airports to Boracay are Caticlan Airport (7km away) and Kalibo International Airport (76km away). From Caticlan Airport, you can hail a tricycle or walk for 10 minutes to reach Caticlan Jetty Port and take a ferry across to Boracay. If you're flying into Kalibo International Airport, you can catch a bus or minivan to the jetty direct from the airport. To get around once on the island just wave down a trike.
