The hostel is located 73km north-east from Cobán and only 9km from Lanquin. The property is ideally located just few meters away from Semuc Champey Park.

From the night we checked in to the following morning we witnessed or heard 5 instances of animal abuse by the staff. I saw one staff member hitting and then chasing a dog with a broom and my partner saw a staff member aggressively throwing rocks at another dog who already had open wounds on its body. We had originally booked for 3 nights but left in the morning after the first. When we told the staff why we were leaving they didn’t seem bothered. We had a much better time at greengos hostel.

Great location walking distance from the national park. However, the private room we stayed in had rats. We altered the staff and nothing was done so we had to sleep outside in hammock. Not sure if this is in every room but we can only speak on our room where we saw them in the ceiling and then running around the room on multiple occasions.

Great hostel and an amazing price for the location, right on the river. They run a great day tour around the national park, caves and waterfalls that I highly recommend! The food wasn’t great but other than that no complaints.
