About

The house was constructed sometimes in 1920s when Mr. Balili was still a bachelor.

The house served as the venue of grand social functions of Tagbilaran which were attended by prominent political and social personalities from both local and national levels.

One of those grand gatherings was the meeting of then President Roxas with Elpidio Quirino, a senator then, former governor Perfecto Balili, the brother of Eladio and some other important local political personalities.

In March 1942, the war (WWII) reached Bohol. Tagbilaran was occupied by the Japanese Imperial Army.
Almost everyone evacuated the town. The fine Balili house was requisitioned for use by high ranking Japanese officers where social gatherings were still held.

The house which still stands today, still carries the marks of its past grandeur that manifests how the Tagbilaranons lived their lives in the past.

Staying in the Oasis Balili Lodge was a really interesting and wonderful experience. The history of the house made it feel like we were staying in a really cool spot and it’s within walking distance of the pier which is a big plus. Also Gloria Balili and her husband were absolutely wonderful people. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again!

It was so peaceful and safe to the extent that I do leave my laptop and phone whenever going out. Also, I was able to talk to the owners and he shared about the history of this interesting place. People are kind here. They also do have karaoke and I enjoyed it. Will be back for sure.

Such a charming spot! I stayed five nights and during that time, spoke with the owners Ray and Gloria a number of times. It was nice to get their insight on living in the Philippines. They gave me a lot of advice on tours, places to see, etc. I would recommend getting a room with AC as fan-only is a bit tough with the warm weather. Breakfast available for purchase. Easy access from ferry and to tricycle drivers, restaurants, etc. Overall, I loved my stay - it was relaxing and just what I needed.
