About

Sarnath is a place located 7 kilometres north-east of Varanasi near the confluence of the Ganges and the Varuna rivers in Uttar Pradesh, India. The deer park in Sarnath is where Gautama Buddha first taught the Dharma, and where the Buddhist Sangha came into existence through the enlightenment of Kondanna.

Singhpur, a village approximately one kilometre away from the site, was the birthplace of Shreyansanath, the Eleventh Tirthankara of Jainism. A temple dedicated to him, is an important pilgrimage site.

I had a magnificent stay here. The owners are very friendly people. I really felt like at home here. It's a calmer area a little bit outside of the hustle and bustle center of Varanasi, surrounded by many interesting buddhist temples.

Sweetest proprietor you will ever meet. They made every wish come true, sometimes even without asking.

The owner refused to provide hot water that too very rudely stating it was given the previous day and also in such small amount he cannot give so much. The price was decided by him and not me. The washroom was very unclean and was the hub of mosquitoes. The terrace was good but the table was not cleaned, don't knw from how many days. I have stayed in about 20 hostels till now but this was the worst experience. Not at all recommended specially if u r an Indian.
