Hostel Korcula

Korčula is a gem among the Adriatic Islands, packed with typical Croatian charm. The island's main settlement, Korčula Town, is ringed by medieval walls and has a swathe of red roofs that make a dramatic contrast to the surrounding deep blue seas and forested mountains. In its winding alleys, palm-lined streets and al-fresco wine bars, you'll find seriously laid-back Mediterranean vibes. Adventurous types can go hiking in its dense pine forests or swimming and snorkelling in the clear waters. Wine lovers will enjoy a unique experience thanks to the island’s indigenous grape varieties. 

Korčula hostels are on the east of the island, where the main port is. You can stay within the old town walls in an ancient stone building or in a hostel in the town's greener outskirts. Relax in a Korčula hostel with a swimming pool and the beach close by, or opt for one with a terrace overlooking the sea. Some hostels in Korčula have communal spaces like kitchens and lounges, where you can mingle with other travellers, while others offer private en-suite rooms. 

You’ll arrive in the Dominče area to the east of Korčula, which is less than a 10-minute drive from the old town. Besides its historic centre, there are lots of other regions to explore across Korčula. One of them is Lumbarda, home to some of the best vineyards and sandy beaches. You can also check out Pupnat, the oldest settlement on the island, which sits by Korčula’s most beautiful pebble bay, or Žrnovo for its cypress-lined streets, rustic houses and traditional restaurants. 

To get a feel for Korčula Town, lose yourself in its maze of alleys, leafy streets and atmospheric squares. For the best views over the city, climb the winding stairs of St Mark’s Cathedral. Head further inland for hikes through olive groves and grassy hills or go to Lumbarda for wine tasting in the vineyards. Surrounded by an archipelago of islets, Korčula is also a launching pad for sea-bound adventures. You can snorkel off the shore or visit neighbouring islands like peaceful Badija.

From Dubrovnik Airport, you can get a connecting bus to Orebić port and then a boat to Korčula. The journey takes about 3 hours in all. You can also reach Korčula by boat from Split, Hvar and Rijeka. The main town is small enough to walk around, but if you want to explore the rest of the island, you can hop on a bus, or even a water taxi.
