About

The house where the hostel is located was built in the 1960s, made totally from wooden cedar, and after 6 months of intense refurbishments and construction, the first and the only backpacker hostel in Puerto Maldonado was opened in May 2008. We offer a clean, safe environment, updated facilities, and create an atmosphere that is ideal to meet other travelers - all this at an affordable price. Many people come here for a few days and stay for much longer!

You will find...
JUNGLE TOURS - just ask at our guide desk
excellent quality of sheets and towels (100 percent cotton)
24-hour concierge
wifi that actually works!!
free acces to all our common areas in order to make you feel like at home:
hammocks in a tropical garden
TV room with cable and dvd
books about Peruvian wildlife
snack bar
fully equipped kitchen and dinning room

We are located at only 3 blocks from Main Square and from here you can easily reach very well preserved rainforest with our well priced tours, or with other companies that you can contact here in Puerto Maldonado.

From the airport, you can get a mototaxi or a motokar, and you just have to say that you are going to Jr Gonzales Prada # 161, Primera cuadra (first block) and look for the green sign and the green fence.

Some things to do in town are try typical food at traditional restaurants (peruvian food in the jungle is not the same as peruvian food from lima or cusco!), go out at night to enjoy peruvian and brazilian music to dance and have a lot of fun - very easy to do since we are in the middle of town. From July to October puerto has several 'beaches' along the river front where many people go to swim. Things to do near Puerto Maldonado are visit lakes, creeks, rivers and go into the rainforest to do birding, camping, night walks or excursions to observe anacondas or other exotic wildlife.

*No hot water* hope you read it if that's important to you. no hot water, no proper window, they had no change so i had to pay card with the fee even though i had the money. wouldn't recommend at all. your money is worth more elsewhere

Spacious rooms but w/no security/lockers & to my surprise, it gets cold in the amazon & they only have cold water. you can book tours directly through the hostel, which is an agency housed within the hostel & in the city center, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND, got overcharged & came with less activities than other companies were offering. Which wouldn't be a big deal if the tour was good, kayak major disappointment, only upside was the macaw clay licks which had the only knowledgeable tour guide

Only stayed a night, wouldn’t stay longer. Bit of an odd setup, no windows only mosi nets. There’s ongoing building work that made horrible noise from around 08:00 - 18:00 and killed any possible vibe. Felt a little exposed in the rooms. Positives was the beds were clean and had netting round them. Breakfast was decent.
