Backpackers and travelers hostel is located right in the heart of the old town of Ioannina. 100m from the hostel you will find the doors of the castle where you can explore all of the historic sights.
200m down the street you will reach the lake where you can enjoy a walk with a beautiful view of the mountains. From the small harbor there, you can catch a 10 minute ferry to the island which runs every 30 minutes. The walk around the island takes 20 minutes by foot and it contains 7 monastery communities with beautiful stone houses. About 200 people live there, making it the only inhabited island inside of a lake in all of Europe.
Around the hostel there are endless options for food, drinks, and shopping. There are numerous cafes, tapas bars, and restaurants with just a short walk down the street.
Overall our passion is the mountains as we have 30 years of experience with the territory. There are 3 of the national parks of Greece located nearby including Vikos, Valia Kalda, and Tzoumerka.
Every day after 7pm we gather with our guests to discuss details about visiting the nearby attractions. With our knowledge we are always willing to help with directions and transportation instructions for day trips or longer journeys.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here! Kostas is a wonderful host with seemingly infinite knowledge on the area (we had MANY questions about the hikes, public transport, and Greece in general, and all were answered in a helpful way). The hostel is in a great location, close to shops, restaurants, bars, and the lake, and the area felt very safe. It was always clean and the small lockers were good for locking away valuable items (I am not fussed about locking my whole bag away). Thank you!!!

One of my fav hostels I’ve been to! The location is unmatched in the very centre of Ioannina, you’ve got everything you could possibly need within a 5 minute walk from the hostel (supermarket, restaurants, cafes, the lake). There’s a beautiful patio where you can chill, the rooms and bathrooms are clean and the kitchen is very well equipped. The highlight however, is Kosta and his unmatched knowledge of the area for hiking. Also Babi (his cat)
