About

Surrounded by Tayrona's unique fauna and flora, refreshing rivers and jungle full of life... lays Origen Hostel, a little paradise where you'll feel at home while enjoying adventures, friendships, relaxation and connection with nature. Chill and meet new friends, have a cold beer at the bar or take a refreshing dip in our pool surrounded by palmtrees.

We're just 600 meters from the main entrance of Tayrona park, one of the most beautiful natural parks in Colombia.

We believe in sustainable practices to help create a better world for all of us. Hence we started a reforestation program planting 250+ mango trees as well as creamy avocados, pears, oranges, limes, coconuts and more delicious tropical fruits to ensure food availability for the many species who share the land with us.

We put a lot of love and care into creating a place that respects nature and meets our wish for warmth and coziness in the middle of the jungle while feeling connected with each other and ourselves.

Enjoy of your very own two-story jungle cabin or stay in one of our mixed dorms with jungle views and comfortable mattresses.

Summary of traveller reviews

Origen Hostel in El Zaino is a jungle paradise with a beautiful pool and lush gardens. Guests love the friendly and accommodating staff, especially Sami and Will. The delicious food, particularly the mango juice, is a highlight. It's a great base for exploring Tayrona National Park. Some recent guests noted that showers can be cold and the path to the hostel can be tricky after rain.

This hostel is not what it looks like in the photos. The pool is dirty, full of leaves and there are no loungers out. Our rooms weren't ready till 8pm on the day we arrived so we had to sit around and wait. There was only one hostel worker on during our stay - he was pleasant, but it resulted in slow service. The breakfast was quite nice, but there was no choice. We felt there was lots of potential in the hostel, but quite a lot of work to be done.

Had very high expectations for this place which sadly did not deliver. Female staff member was quite rude and not very helpful. The showers were very dirty our whole stay, don’t think they were cleaned once. It was advertised that the hostel has a restaurant, unfortunately they only cook dinner and it’s only one option (no vegetarian). Positives are the 2 dogs and the best mango juice we’ve ever had
