Hostel Altenbach, an affordable budget hostel with boutique hotel flavors, built in the 1950’s by Roger Altenbach a well-known engineer, fireman, and pilot. The Original house is all stone and wood. We’ve updated the bathrooms and the kitchen. We are eco-friendly, solar water heaters and a sewage plant to protect Lake Atitlan.

You can relax in the living and dining area with a stone fireplace, cook in a shared kitchen. Outside we have sitting areas to marvel over a new sunset every day. Though we have an outdoor swimming pool we are a waterfront property.

Hostel Altenbach located between Volcán Toliman and Volcán San Pedro. Lake Atitlán is renowned as one of the most beautiful lakes on the planet, and is Guatemala’s most important national and international tourist attraction. We have a master suite with a private bathroom. A junior suite with a shared bathroom and two bunk-bed common rooms: one for twelve and a smaller room for four. Cleaning is included, and a locker in the bunk-bed areas.
The rooms are cozy, and quiet, and our staff is exceptional.

Altenbach Boutique Hostel Policies & Conditions:

Cancellation policy: 48h before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.

Check in from 13:00 to 23:00 .
Check out before 11:00 .
