People, staff and location very nice - but every room is dirty and broken, e.g. 3/4 lockers didnt work, toilet, heater as well as shower constantly leaked (hopefully) water onto the floor, ac half of the time worked, and so on. I've had 3 people leave on their first night in my room. Understandable. If it was cheaper then sure, but not for 18€/night as I paid. Meh.

Galata West Hostel is fantastically located in the European part of the city. Various types of public transportation (bus, tram, ferry) are within walking distance. It’s a cozy hostel with a really nice rooftop terrace. The only downside was the cleanliness: although the sheets were clean, the place could have used a thorough cleaning every now and then. So don’t expect a spotlessly clean hostel. Definitely good value for the price you pay.

Stayed for one night only. The facilities are acceptable, consistent with the price range. The whole building looks a bit run down and creaky, but reasonably clean. If, like me, you have the top bunk of a triple stacked bed, climbing the narrow ladder can be somewhat uncomfortable on your feet. Staff was polite and professional, and always responsive.
