Atelier is a capsule hotel located in the heart of Chinatown, an area which is amongst the city's most atmospheric areas. The area is famous for its colourful heritage buildings and old shophouses. Atelier sits in a beautiful pre-war shophouse that was built in the early 1900's. It was formerly a medical hall dealing in the retail of traditional chinese medicine as well as a former jeweler retail store. One of Atelier's bedrooms in fact is in the original vault where jewels were once kept!

What's better than a good cup of coffee with warm buttery croissants to start the day? Atelier is situated above a beautiful French themed cafe called Madame Ooze and it is most known for its Ice Cream and Croissants. It opens daily and it serves beautiful cakes and pastries as well which would be perfect for an afternoon tea.

Decent for the price of the hostel especially in Singapore, comfortable beds and decent enough curtains. The only two negatives that stood out to me were that in the female dorms, the bathrooms were not great, they are both dual showers and toilets and in the showers they are semi-transparent so you can't see through them completely but you can still see people's silhouettes which was a bit weird. Also the only way to get up to the rooms is via the stairs. The hostel is accessed via a cafe which is usually

Location was good, didn’t feel unsafe (26yr old male). Sleeping area was relatively clean, bed was comfortable. Bathrooms have combined showers + toilets which is weird but worked ok. Hand soap pumps didn’t work. When he was introducing me to the property, host asked that I pick up someone else’s clothing from off the top of the locker (he couldn’t reach). I resisted, but he insisted. Ended up being someone’s dirty underwear. Gross. Also very expensive.

Very nice hostel hidden behind a café. Even the 18person doem was quite comfortable and spacious+cooled enough. Breakfast was nice and the food walking tour was fun. Great atmosphere, good for meeting people. Showers and toilets are combined in the same stalls to save space which means the toilet is always wet - only downside I can really think of right now. Staff was very friendly:)
