Totora Hostel is a place for travelers who want it all: comfortable and spacious rooms, outdoor working spaces, and a rooftop terrace with the best sunsets in Huanchaco. We also organize surf trips and visits to nearby museums, so there’s always something to do.
We offer private rooms with shared bathrooms and a fully equipped guest kitchen, so you can prepare your meals easily and at your own pace.

We sit on the main avenue of one of Peru’s most historic coastal towns. Huanchaco was home for centuries to indigenous groups from the Kingdom of Chan Chan — now a world-class museum just 10 minutes away by car and declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Huanchaco is also considered one of the birthplaces of surfing. Long before Hawaii, local fishermen rode the waves on totora reed boats — the caballito de totora — a tradition still alive today. That history is in our name, and it’s why surfers keep coming back.

Our rooms feature a double bed, a wardrobe, and a desk — perfect if you need to get some work done. Depending on what you’re looking for, we have two cozy rooms with sea views and large windows that fill the space with natural light.
All rooms have shared bathrooms, conveniently located just steps away, with hot water 24 hours a day and daily cleaning service.

Totora Hostel is located in the heart of Huanchaco — a living, breathing village that wakes up early. The sounds of the market, restaurants, and local life are part of the experience, so light sleepers should keep this in mind.
To make sure we’re ready for you, please share your phone number and arrival details when booking, especially if you’re arriving early or late. Our reception has limited hours and is not open 24/7, so a heads-up goes a long way.

Cancellation Policy: 1 days before arrival.In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.
