Bambu Hostel is your best option in David, Panama and has the best atmosphere and facilities. Bambu staff are experienced travelers, friendly and helpful.

There are 4 different sleeping options, good free WIFI covering the entire property, a large outdoor fully equipped kitchen and free coffee in the morning.

The huge garden is tranquil, an urban oasis, with a crystal clear swimming pool, and is surrounded by lush tropical plants and flowers and fruit trees that guests are invited to graze. Bambu has the 'jungle vibe in the city', complete with wild animals and exotic birds and plenty of hammocks.

Also the location is ideal, a 5 minute walk to 24 hour supermarkets, ATM, shopping, good cheap restaurants, and the best seafood shack in Panama is directly in front of the hostel. Not to mention professional baseball, Salsa Dancing and within an 30-60 minutes, hot-springs, mountain village of Boquete, and big wave beaches.

Buses depart in front of Bambu to the Costa Rican border, so you don't need to go back to the bus terminal.
The private rooms are comfortable with good AC, orthopedic mattresses, cable TV, hot water showers and plenty of WIFI.

When I arrived at the hostel I was told they have no room for me. I told them that I have a confirmed reservation but they didnot care about this. They refused to let me enter and see the reserved room. I never had a experience like this. The staff was not really helpful. There should be no charge for this reservation. This place seems like it has been bought and forgotten. The kitchen is a mess, and there is no one to check if things actually are cleaned properly by the guests. The garden was nice but has rubbish in it so relaxing in the hammocks (not by the pool, but under the wooden house in stilts) was not a pleasant option. The pictures are not up to date, especially for the dorms. The bathrooms smell of some horrible cleaning product. But hey, it’s probably the best option in town… take Uber, not taxi.

I like Bambu. It'll definitely be my go-to when passing thru David. It's basic. Clean. I felt safe. I would recommend it to my younger and more Adventress friends. It's close to a main highway (bus & taxi service) and a huge supermarket "around the corner." There's a big open air kitchen to cook your meals. It could use some organization, but you can easily get the job done! Louis is a super cool host. He's very accommodating and bilingual. 8-9/10 👍🏽
