About

Desti Youth Hostel Shanghai is located on Xikang Road in Jing’an District, just a 5-minute walk from Exit 4 of Changping Road Metro Station. Situated near Jing’an Temple, one of Shanghai’s core commercial hubs, the hostel is only one metro stop away from the Jing'an temple. From here, it’s easy to hop on a bike or take a city walk to explore iconic landmarks such as Nanjing West Road, the Bund, and Wukang Road—immersing yourself in both the trendy pulse of an international metropolis and the unique charm of Shanghai’s “Haipai” culture.

Desti Youth Hostel Shanghai features a retro-style interior and collaborates with the 2Dollars Café & Bar at its doorstep to create a “daytime café, nighttime bar” social space. The common area is equipped with sofas and tables, soundproof pods, an event stage, self-service lockers, billiards, foosball, and dartboards. New room options include private capsule beds, bunk-bed rooms, and upgraded bathrooms with wet-dry separation, all continuing the standard of hotel-quality bedding and bath amenities to ensure a comfortable stay.

To better match the spirit of the city, the hostel also offers themed activities such as city exploration, tap dance, DJ nights, coffee workshops, jazz, and Chinese cultural experiences—more frequent, more local, and more diverse—so you can stay comfortably in Shanghai and play and connect joyfully. Desti Shanghai is more than just a hostel—it’s a free-spirited, retro, and vibrant youth community.

This is an incredible hostel with the most helpful and wonderful staff! Huge shoutout to Jason, Agnes, Bruce and Warren for always being there to help. There are a couple of other staff members whose names I sadly can’t remember, but they deserve just as much praise. Everyone brings such a lovely, welcoming vibe :) I also can’t praise the cleaning staff enough. The showers and washrooms are spotless—cleaner than those in most hotels I’ve stayed at in Europe and North America! Would definitely
