About

Welcome to Mandalas Hideout, the cosy, easy-going hostel built for travellers looking for a haven away from home, tucked away outside the busy centre of San Pedro and just a few minutes’ walk from the lakeshore.

Wake up early for hikes, kayaking, and exploring the lake, without being kept up all night by the party scene. Enjoy comfortable rooms, social common spaces, and a community vibe without any of the chaos - while still being close enough to enjoy everything San Pedro has to offer.

We heard all the complaints about loud party hostels, so we opened the alternative:

✨ Quiet at night - fall asleep to the sounds of nature
🚲 FREE bikes for guests - quick access to the centre without having to stay in it
🏞 Lake access within a 5-minute walk
🛶 The perfect spot for kayaking
👨‍🍳 Fully equipped guest kitchen
💬 Chilled social atmosphere

Even though we’re outside the busy centre, our neighbourhood has everything you need - small convenience stores for everyday essentials, a cosy coffee shop for your morning caffeine fix, and a beautiful Italian restaurant with a garden terrace that’s perfect for a relaxed drink or dinner. So if you don’t feel like heading into town after a full day of adventure, you can stay close, unwind, and enjoy the beauty of the lake right on your doorstep.

Come find your calm, make new friends, and really experience Lake Atitlán.

I really liked Mandala's hideout! It is a bit far from the town (30 minute walk), but there are lots of tuk-tuks around which makes it easy. The hostel haseasy private access to the lake, which was quiet and wasn't crowded. The vibe of the hostel is very chill and quiet. Definitely not a party hostel, which is nice. You're a good distance away from the craziness that is Mr. Mullets. Good place to relax. The staff members are amazing and really made sure I had a great time!

Incredible hostel! Located a bit of a ways from the main central but that’s why I loved it so much. It’s a quiet oasis with all of the amenities you could need. The dorms have their own upstairs and patio to hang out, the girls dorm was so cozy and spacious, the kitchen has everything you could possibly need as well as free agua pura. There are plants everywhere, Basurita, the hostel kitty and the staff are absolutely incredible kind friendly people. Don’t miss this place! Hidden gem for sure.

Staff is friendly and the private beach access is nice - it is a brief walk away. WiFi is good. Location is OK but removed and price doesn’t adjust for this. Free bikes were nice but we didn’t ride them at night as they don’t have lights. bathroom had some issues (shower didn’t drain, bathroom “door” was broken, iffy toilet). Common areas are set up such that it sounds like people are basically in our room when they hung out/even came back at night, which made it hard to sleep through the night
