About
A Piece of Ground is a small hostel on Pelican Street in Punta Gorda, Toledo District — the southernmost town in Belize. This is not a resort town. There are no cruise ships. What there is:
Maya, Garifuna, Creole, East Indian, and Mestizo communities living side by side in one of the most culturally diverse corners of the hemisphere.
We have dorm beds and private rooms on a quiet compound with a rooftop. No meals for individual stays — but you're walking distance from local restaurants and the market. PG is small enough to get around on foot.
From here you can visit Maya villages, cacao farms, caves, waterfalls, and the cayes. But the best thing about Punta Gorda is the town itself — the people, the food, the pace. If you come expecting to be entertained, this is the wrong place. If you come ready to be present in someone else's world, you'll understand why people keep coming back.
