Staying near Hivernage is a great way to escape the rush of the Medina, while still being able to experience the buzz of Marrakech. Marrakech’s souks are the perfect place to have an authentic experience. Souk Semmarine is the largest of the souks and offers everything from baked goods to beautifully crafted lanterns. Another unique option is Souk Place des Épices, where you’ll find colourful piles of spices ready to liven up your meals. Once you’ve had your fun in the bustling souks, you’ll be ready to relax; Jardin Majorelle is a beautifully designed garden that you’ll fall in love with right away. Be sure to check out the historic Djemaa el-Fna; a place of public execution turned social hub with snake charming, acrobatics, astrology, and Gnaoua troupes.

Taxis are the most efficient way to get around the main attractions. Grand taxis carry up to six people and have fixed fares on specific routes. Petit taxis are slightly more expensive but will take you anywhere you like. A Caleche is a fun way to get around, these horse-drawn carriages have fixed fares on set routes or you can haggle to get elsewhere. Buses are also available and are an affordable way to explore the city but might be overwhelming and crowded. If you want complete freedom, look into renting a moped or bicycle!
