About
The Central Malta is an independent, family run hostel, with a welcoming atmosphere that will make you feel right at home and a great place to meet other fellow travelers. Newly opened and ideally located on Valley Road in Birkirkara — a central Maltese town located 5-6 km from the lively St. Julian’s area —, Central Hostel is thoughtfully designed for travelers seeking a blend of convenience and comfort.
The hostel features a total of 21 beds, which are distributed across mixed dorms and a female-only dorm, as well as a private ensuite twin room for those preferring more privacy. Each air-conditioned room is equipped with curtains, individual power sockets, personal lockers to keep your belongings safe and fresh linen/towels are provided to ensure a comfortable stay. Our hostel is just a short walk from the supermarket, convenience stores, cafés, restaurants, bakeries, pharmacy, banks, post office, hairdressers & bars which are situated throughout this area.
If you're looking to explore the beauty and history of Malta, staying at Central Hostel is a fantastic choice. We are situated within walking distance of the center of Birkirkara and The "Three Villages" of Malta—Attard, Balzan, and Lija—a trio of historic settlements situated in the center of the island. Known for their classical Baroque architecture, quiet winding streets and grand noble palazzos, these idyllic, affluent residential areas seamlessly merge into one another. In the center of Attard you will find San Anton Gardens, one of the most beautiful gardens in Malta, with a large variety of beautiful flowers and plants. This garden has been open to the public since 1882 and today is the residence of the Maltese President.
15 minutes away by bus from our hostel you will find Mdina, Malta’s ancient, fortified medieval capital. Perched on a hilltop in the center of the island, it is famously known as the "Silent City" due to its tranquil, car-free streets and a permanent residential population of just 250. Immediately outside Mdina's fortified walls is Rabat a town with deep roots stretching back to pre-Roman times. With Valletta, Sliema, St Julian's, Mellieha and The Three Cities of Malta—Vittoriosa (Birgu), Senglea (Isla), and Cospicua (Bormla) all close by & serviced by buses which stop outside the hostel.
