The hostel is located in Gräsheden The Grass Heath. on the northern road around the Sälen mountain range, close to Stöten ski-slopes. The hostel offers practical and pleasant accommodation in double or multiple-bed rooms. There are washbasins and toilets in most rooms.

Showers and a sauna are also available as well as a self-catering kitchen. If you like to experience nature on foot, you can walk along one of Europe's longest hiking trails the E1, which passes close to the hostel or maybe a shorter hike in the area. Within an hour's drive, you can reach Sweden's highest waterfall Njupeskar and the country's most recent national park Fulufallet. The closest ski resort with maintained cross-country skiing tracks and ski slopes is ten kilometres away. Other mountain skiing facilities in the Sälen area can be reached within half an hour and STF Hostel Sälen is also well-positioned for day trips to Trysil in Norway.
