Summary of traveller reviews

Loft 109 Backpackers Hostel in Tauranga is frequently described as very dirty, with unpleasant smells and poorly maintained common areas. Some guests felt unsafe, particularly female travellers, due to the presence of long-term residents and a lack of attentive staff.

Put a little more money into another hostel, but don’t waste your money here. Probably the worst hostel we stayed at in New Zealand, especially for the price (around $38/night). Dirty hostel, disgusting bathrooms, bad smells, noisy nights, and uncomfortable atmosphere. As girls, we did not feel safe because of some unsettling behavior from long-term residents. Very poor value for money and unhelpful staff , I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

You walk in and the staff guy was kinda friendly but instantly there is a smell in the air that is nasty. Walking closer to the room the smell was unacceptable and apparently there’s homeless people sleeping there or something? That’s where the smell came from by the way guys laying in the beds dirty and the laundry smelled the same probably they tried to wash their things in there and on and off there’s just sketchy looking people coming in the door. The kitchen is ok, very few inventory.
