About

A chance to spend the night on the site of a former brewery and an unforgettable experience in Berlin! The Pfefferbett Hostel Berlin is located on the historic 'Pfefferberg' area in one of Berlins hippest and trendiest districts - Prenzlauer Berg. Right next to our hostel you will find artists' workshops, galleries, a theater, restaurants and a beer garden with its own brewery - they all breathe new life into the industrial heritage-protected area. Everyone talks about it, we live it... By the way, the Pfefferbett is an inclusive business! People with and without disabilities work hand in hand here...

During the buildings reconstruction in 2007 the modern interior design was conceptualised in stylish contrast to the industrial architecture of the 19th century. In the 20 feet high lobby, with its historical ceiling and contemporary wall paintings, the coming together of past and present is particularly apparent. With the plain forms, materials and colors the furnishings of the hostel contribute to the unique atmosphere of old and new.

The central location and the good travel connections make the Pfefferbett particularly attractive for all Berlin travelers. The underground station 'Senefelderplatz' (underground line 2 or U2), that runs from the eastern inner-city via Alexanderplatz and Potsdamer Platz to the 'City West', Zoologischer Garten, is located right next to the 'Pfefferberg' area. 'Hackescher Markt', Mauerpark, the Museum Island and the boulevard 'Unter den Linden' are within 15-20 minute walking distance and the nearby neighborhood scene offers something for every taste. A weekly market, restaurants, bars, clubs, authentic shops, a lot of different bio products and, of course, the famous Kastanienallee are right around the corner!

The hostel is a twenty minute walk from Alexanderplatz. It's on a repurposed brewery area, so the vibe is nice and it is quiet because it's not right on the street. There is a nice common area and a garden. Everything was clean and the staff was friendly. The only downside is that the hostel does not have AC and our room didn't even have a fan so it was quite hot.

Great location. Quickly realized there was 0 air flow in the rooms or halls leading to a ridiculous stench from the bathrooms/stale air. The mattresses are incredibly old spring mattresses, very uncomfortable. No AC, and we happened to stay on a 100°F day. Obviously can’t control the weather, but with no fans/airflow to even assist it was unbearable. One set of bathrooms for the entire building, clean but smelly. Laundry machine or dryer tinted dyed and ruined our clothes.

No air con and bitten by bed bugs. No curtains on beds so not much privacy. All you could hear was people scratching in the night. Didn’t find bites until we had checked out so couldn’t inform staff.

Hostelworld says

Hostelworld guests have said Pfefferbett Hostel's location in Prenzlauer Berg means "the area around the hostel is full of great bars and restaurants and the subway outside the hostel entrance goes directly to pretty much all the main places of interest". This area is known for its vintage shops, art galleries and nightlife. Travellers tell us this hostel has sturdy, comfortable beds and that they'd stay here again. We like that they offer daily bicycle rental.
