We’re the only travelers’ accommodation within Fort Mason, a popular stretch of National Park land right on the San Francisco Bay. A licensed concessionaire of the National Park Service, HI San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf Hostel is housed in a historic building surrounded by park land. Easily walk from the hostel to Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, Crissy Field, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Fort Mason Pavilion and other convention buildings, the Marina District, and multiple bus lines serving neighborhoods and landmarks throughout the city.

The hostel is very well located, with a supermarket nearby and within walking distance of Pier 39. The Golden Gate Bridge is about an hour’s walk away, and you can see Alcatraz from the hostel. The rooms are comfortable and secure, with keycard access, towels and bedsheets provided, and plenty of storage space (just bring your own lock). Clean bathrooms, warm showers, laundry, spacious kitchen, and common area. Overall, I had a great stay and felt safe and comfortable!

Nice reliable place to stay in SF when on a budget. Fantastic views of the city and bay from the property and surrounding park. A plus if military is an interest as the facility was built for military and many boys and young men passed through here. Very good kitchen facilities and bathrooms are bright and airy and functional for this old historic building. I appreciate the security & necessary key card for entering past 24 hr front desk staff.

great location with decent amenities. our window was broken and wasn't fixed, but we felt safe enough there that it wasn't an issue. having free parking was a massive perk, and the location made it so easy to enjoy the city.
