Stay Happy Hostel is tucked just a 3-minute stroll from the lively heart of Arugam Bay, our hostel offers the best of both worlds: close enough to the beach, surf, and scene—but far enough to escape the crowds and noise. This is a place where time slows down, conversations flow easily, and nature takes the lead.
Our little green kingdom feels more like a jungle sanctuary than a typical hostel. Whether you’re sipping a morning tea surrounded by palms or winding down in the evening under the stars, there’s always a quiet corner to call your own.
We’re not a party hostel—there are plenty of those nearby. Instead, we welcome respectful travellers who enjoy meaningful connections, shared meals, and slow living. Many of our guests are slightly older, solo explorers, couples, or creatives seeking rest, surf, and inspiration.

We have designed our hostel with everything you need as a traveller: garden and rooftop chill spaces to share a beer and chat, healthy breakfast, extra bathroom outside the room, individual power points, privacy curtains, free parking, lockers, drinking water, clotheslines.
Free early checkin! We know sometimes your bus arrives at weird times so if you arrive early an a bed is available we will let you check in straight away, if not we have lockers outside the room for you to leave your valuables so you can start enjoying your time in this paradise.
