Stayokay Heemskerk is located in a 13th-century castle, Slot Assumburg. Whether you’re exploring the surrounding dune landscape or pay a visit to the town, at the hostel you’ll feel like lord or lady of the manor.
The grand entrance to Stayokay Heemskerk welcomes you to this traditional building. Wake up each morning with a free breakfast in the authentic dining room. With tasteful and unique rooms, such as original tower rooms, your stay will be memorable!
The hostel consists of the castle and an annex next to the castle, the Orangery. Depending on availability, you will sleep in the castle or in the Orangery. If you want to be sure of a room in the castle, we recommend that you reserve a family room. The reception, bar and restaurant can be found in the castle.
All rooms are equipped with bunk beds and a private bathroom and toilet. Upon arrival you will receive bed linen so you can make your own bed. A towel is not included but can be bought at the front desk. Of course you can also bring your own towels.
Start your day with a complimentary breakfast in the authentic dining room. The castle, moat and five turret rooms are ancient but the hostel offers modern comfort and fitting royal decor. Ever raised a glass in a turret bar? Here is your chance! You will surely meet travelers from far and wide.
Enjoy a walk through the beautiful grounds around the castle or rent a bike to go for a trip through the countryside. In the evening you can tag along for a tasty meal.
The hostel is centrally located which gives you numerous possibilities. However you can also stay close since the hostel offers the following facilities:

- Breakfast is included.
- You will be given bed linen upon arrival to make your own bed. Towels are not included. These can be rented at the hostel (or you can bring your own, of course).
- Guests under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Please read our Things to Note below before booking.
- City tax is not included and must be paid upon arrival.
- Stayokay and Hostelling International members do not receive member discount on this booking.
- Wi-Fi is free and accessible throughout the entire hostel.
- It is not possible to access the castle after 00:00, not even with your room key/code. Do you want to come back later than midnight? Please contact us as soon as possible for the possibilities. We can place your reservation in the annex building if rooms are available.
Stayokay Heemskerk is a cashless hostel. You can pay contactless and with all major bank and credit cards. It is not possible to pay with cash in our accommodation.
