Safestay Edinburgh Cowgate heeft een fantastische centrale locatie, perfect om de stad te verkennen. Gasten prijzen vaak het vriendelijke en behulpzame personeel. Houd er echter rekening mee dat het pand naast een levendige bar ligt, wat vooral in het weekend tot aanzienlijke geluidsoverlast kan leiden. Recente beoordelingen vermelden problemen met de netheid van de badkamers en het gebrek aan voorzieningen zoals een keuken.

Leuke hostel en mooie ruime kamers. Lockers zijn ook groot om trekkersrugzak in te krijgen. Deze hostel ligt wel midden in de uitgaansbuurt dus als je goed (en vroeg) wilt slapen, dan is deze niet de beste optie. Het bed zou leuker zijn met een gordijntje voor meer privacy in de man/vrouwen kamers en een plankje om dingen op te leggen. Douche mist ook extra haakjes of plankjes om dingen op te leggen. Personeel was vriendelijk en heel aangename sfeer.

Op de website staat bij "faciliteiten" dat er een keuken is. Die is er niet, dat vind ik erg misleidend. Andere hostels in Edinburgh hebben dat wel. Van het personeel zijn sommigen wel aardig, maar de Schotse vriendelijkheid die ik gewend ben-van al mijn eerdere bezoeken aan Schotland- ontbreekt volledig, er heerst vooral een zakelijke sfeer. De privé kamer had niet eens een stoeltje of een rekje in de douche en het hostel ligt tegenover een bar die íedere avond tot 1u harde muziek buiten draait

Een goede plek als je in de avond uit wil, want het ligt vlak naast allemaal pubs en bars. Nadeel daarvan wel is is dat je de avond als je vroeg wil slapen wakker gehouden word door alle harde muziek in de straat. Ook beetje jammer dat m’n wifi daar het niet deed, maar verder ben ik wel tevreden over mijn verblijf hier. Super aardig personeel.
