Hostal The Friends is 200 meters from the most beautiful lake in the world, Lake Atitlan, a quiet and central area of the city.

The hostel has wifi service, we have a small kitchen available, two hammocks where you can relax and enjoy the sun, we have purified water to drink, free, we have hot water, toilets and showers are shared, we have a large patio, the whole area is protected with security cameras.

We arrived at 18:00 after booking a room in a dorm for two nights. Upon arrival we were told they did not have room for us for two nights, as their accommodation is on both airbnb and hostelworld and they were doubly booked. Luckily we were able to stay there for one night at least, however this was a private room and thereby more expensive than the room we originally booked. The accommodation was fine, but the organization definitely needs some improvement as this was very inconvenient for us.

Honestly loved this place. Perfect if you are looking for a place that is authentic and with locals. The people were super friendly and it is good if you want to practice your Spanish! Highly recommend if you want to avoid the tourist party crowd. I also met some chill dudes traveling that were on a similar wavelength. Good deal and easy going. They provide keys for a small locker and the gate to enter the complex.
