I really enjoyed my stay! The pod-style bed was cozy and gave me a nice little space of my own. It was a fun, unique experience and I’d happily stay again! Plus the staffs is super nice and helpful!❤️

There is only self check in. Not a receptionist, so I had to text and wait a while when the code to my room wouldn’t work. The person that eventually came was very helpful. The bed cubes are nice to lock your stuff up in easily but they are new and currently not all working yet. The kitchens are very sparsely stocked. The location is very convenient by the blue line, but the water pressure at least in the one bathroom I used took about 2 minutes before the shower got hot.

I’ve stayed in hostels all over the world, and Grand House 424 is something different. Affordable, clean, safe, and right in the heart of Chicago. If you’ve traveled through Japan, you know capsule-style sleeping. Grand House brings that concept to Chicago with private sleeping pods, privacy curtains, and your own personal space at hostel prices. As a digital nomad, what really sold me was the coworking space and creative studios right in the building. There's even a basement art space where travelers and local artists can connect, collaborate, and create. The location is hard to beat. There's a smoke shop and barbershop in the building, and the Grand Blue Line stop is just a block away, with downtown only minutes away. It's more than a place to sleep.
