Auberge de Jeunesse HI Cahors

Nice to be able to store my luggage before and after my stay. Only downside is you have to wait until the reception is open at 15:30 to access the building at all. Pleasant stay, mostly because I had a room to myself. The kitchen was very warm and some guests were very loud past 22:00 quiet hours. I seemed to be charged extra for my stay and asked reception to verify. I spoke in French and don’t think I understood completely. I sent an email to clarify but haven’t received a response.

The view is incredible from the terrace and it’s wonderful to have a breakfast bar included! No hair dryer in the room or soap is all.

We enjoyed 2 quiet and comfortable nights in the well located, modern hostel. Friendly, helpful staff. I’m not particularly enamoured by the unfinished concrete look mixed with lots of glass & its associated lack of sustainability credentials, but I suppose it’s cheap, fast and functional (see film ‘1984’ for an impression of the rooms/cells!). It lacks maintenance too & if the building issues aren’t addressed, it’ll look rather poor/shabby soon; rather inappropriate for the incredible location.
