The a&o Duesseldorf opened in August 2009 in its central location, not far from the Central Station. The a&o has modern rooms in various categories as well as a large, light-flooded lobby and bar.
The a&o Dusseldorf is just 900 meters from the Central Station and can be easily reached by streetcar in just a few minutes. The main shopping street is only 200 meters away. With its central location the a&o is easy to reach by car, train or streetcar, and is an ideal starting point for excursions into the city.
In addition to its comfortable rooms the a&o Hostel Dusseldorf also has modern common rooms and conference rooms to relax and work. The large, beautiful lobby and bar area provide a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of room to meet new people. The hostel has an underground parking garage available for guests arriving by car.

The atmosphere was very boring, no one was interested in socializing. All the people in the lobby were just working on their computers. In the dorm, people couldn't even say hi or bye. There was one crazy woman in our dorm who would sit in the lobby the whole day holding her bag and staring at the window. At night, we felt scared that she might attack us while we slept. The rooms weren't clean. I found someone's hair in my sheets, and the floor was a complete mess..

I must say, I was a bit surprised. I booked a bed in a mixed dorm for one night, but I had never experienced a hostel offering one side of a double bed to individual travelers. The room was actually a family room, with two beds pushed together as a double bed and a bunk bed for two more people. I had one side of the double bed and spent the night next to a person of the opposite sex whom I never even got to say “hello” to. That concept was very foreign to me.
