If you want to swim, stay closer to Puerto Angelito or Playa Carrizalillo as the waves here are dangerous. This hostel is right on the beach with many restaurants nearby. However, the rooms can be terribly hot, like not being able to sleep at all hot, due to slow or misdirected fans. There's also a bar right across the street that played loud music until 1am on the Monday and Tuesday nights we were there. Its not a great place but also can't beat the price.

Great hostel, good staff, good atmosphere, couldn't ask for better in terms of location, right on the Zicatela beach front. Rooms and cleanliness are fine, decent for the price. Definitely recommend 👌👌

Great location, but just the bare minimum regarding the hostel. The hostel supposedly just re-opened .. but our fan didn’t work in the room (no AC as well). In 24h we had : no running water, no electricity, no WiFi. When water came back there was barely no pressure. Our room didn’t not have a curtain, so we had full light and heat starting at 5:30. Plus, everything was really dirty. However : nice location, nice staff and they gave free water to drink.
