Welcome to Arugam Waves Hostel, your laid-back beach base just steps from Arugam Bay’s main surf point. Whether you're chasing waves or good vibes, we’ve created a cozy and social space for backpackers, surfers, and solo travelers.

We offer clean dorms (including a female-only and Mixed A/C dorm), free Wi-Fi, chill-out zones, surfboard rentals, Bike rentals and a welcoming crew ready to help you feel at home. Start your mornings with the sound of waves and end them around a bonfire with new friends.

Chama is the goat. He looked after us so well for our stay in Arugam Bay. The hostel has the best location right on the beach behind one love beach bar which is the night out one of the nights of the week as well. Chama gave us loads of recommendations, played cards, came out with us and looked after us all night making sure we were safe and having fun. He is a lovely guy. 100% recommend this hostel. The bathrooms are just very hot.

The location is amazing, right on the beach, which is a huge plus. The downside was that the shower water had a smell and the overall cleanliness could have been better. That said, it’s a good option if you just need a place to sleep and don’t plan on spending much time inside.

The host is great and helps you organise excursions and has good advice. I booked surf lessons with Nilu who lives at the hostel and he was amazing! Lessons good value and great teacher. Overall spacious dorms with curtains, two bathrooms in the dorm. Only downside is could use an outdoor shower, and sometimes music from other bars was a bit loud. A great place to stay in A Bay.
