Mission Beach Retreat

Lovely little hostel on the East Coast, nice atmosphere, close to the beach, close the bars and cafe's. A true purist backpackers hostel.

Don’t be put off by the other reviews, we had a great stay here. The guy on the desk was around a lot and was really helpful, especially when our bus was delayed late at night. Location is perfect, the greyhound is 5 min drive away but there’s regular shuttles and lots of cafes/restaurants nearby and the beach just a couple mins walk. Seemed like a lot of long term guests so not the biggest atmosphere but everyone was friendly and rooms/bathrooms were clean. Also AC. Thank you!

Worst experience of my trip, do NOT stay here. I arrived and there was no receptionist. Was given a key in an envelope, but was pointless, rooms were never locked. I was greeted by cockroaches and immediately felt unsafe. The kitchen was also filthy on the floor along with dead cockroaches. When walking around there were several red stains on the floors which looked like blood. The bed linen was damp/smelled. I checked out immediately and the staff failed to respond and continue to ignore me.
