Severe mold issue in the bathroom, staff does not speak English (at all), to avoid if you are looking for the whole "youth hostel" experience, this is not the place to socialise.

The only two good things about this place is the location and some of the staff being very helpful. If you don’t speak Chinese they can help a bit
The dorm bathroom ceiling had a huge hole in it and you could see pipes. The shower had a lot of black mold in it. It was extremely dirty. Hutong are old but this was beyond age issues
The beds are Chinese style- meaning they are very hard, prepare for that. The door to my dorm did not shut all the way easily so often it would get left unlocked.

The location is good, in a busy hutong area with lots of food options and small shops around. The hostel was quiet although the area is very busy with lots of tourists. However, the bathroom was dirty at some points, it should be cleaned more often with the amount of people using. Same for the room, the floor was sticky and I don’t think has been cleaned in a while…

We're located in a charming lane, just five minutes' walk from Houhai Lake and 20 minutes from the Forbidden City. I recommend people definitely visit the web-like maze of Hutongs.
For fun our guests like to have some nice drinks and play the free guitar we have around here. We also serve Illy Coffee in our beautiful café. We cater to all ages and have baby chairs as well as wheelchair accessibility on the first floor.
